Good evening,
For about a month now, nearly everytime I press the back button a little message box opens on screen. It says "are you sure you want to leave this page"
Leave this page
stay on this page
I'm starting to get really annoyed with it, it just did it when I opened up TOT only this time when I clicked on "New Topic" Of course I want to leave the page or I wouldn't have clicked on something else.
Does anyone else get this problem, it only seems to be since I changed to windows 10. Never happened before.

Yes. I get it occaisionally but do not regard it as a problem.
-
Yes, I've had that happen too, but not just on this site.
I thought it was a normal occurence

Not that I can help, but... Does this only happen in rootschat?
I have had it elsewhere, but not repeatedly (seldom).
I'm sure a techy person will be able to help you properly - it must be really a irritating and if it happens nearly every time you press the back button, it is certainly a problem.

Should this thread be on the Technical Help board? :-\

If you g**gle 'are you sure you want to leave this page' there's lots of info about it.
Not tech - minded so wouldn't like to advise, but at least you can get a general idea of what you can do about it :)

Good morning,
I get it on all sites, sometimes I can click on back button several times without it happening then it suddenly does it. Other times it happens every single time I click back button.
Happens more on RC though because of the nature of reading through the threads with multiple pages.

Yes, I too am only getting this irritating feature on Rootschat - thank you for raising the matter!

Me too, and since about the same time. Doesn't bother me too much, but where it suddenly appeared from I don't know ???

I haven't had this issue with rootschat. I'm sure Trystan will be on the case soon - maybe bring this to his attention via a PM?

It's not a feature of RootsChat to display "Do you want to leave this page".
In fact on my browser (Google Chrome) I go back and it doesn't come up with that message on RootsChat.
If such a message appears when pressing "back" on a website, it's generally caused by the web browser detecting that part of a form has been filled it, but the person has pressed the back button (such as a comment box and the like). Another common one is after a search on a website and the back button is pressed.
Some websites (not RootsChat) don't allow browsers to go "back" because the resulting page may have changed in the meantime.
There is a more technical reason behind it, but it's not very interesting!
So there we go. I hope that's of some use. :)
