Do you have your nan's birth or marriage cert. identifying her parents?
Who's parents are you looking for, Hannah's or your nan's?

Look for a William Devereux in Ormskirk on the 1911 census. You should be able to trace back from that census to sort out Hannah Allen who I believe was married before she married William Devereux. ( I have modified what I've said as I don't want to infringe copyright ).

I suggest this prior marriage :
Hannah Narrowmore and Richard Nowell Allen J-S 1897 King's Norton 6c 840.

 I also noticed that there is a William J Devereux , mother's name Narrowmore , b O-D 1916 Ormskirk 8b 1428.

Thank you cb53 I found this one and in the 1911 census there is a hannah Allen with children and a William Devereux as a visitor her husband died in about 1911 Richard Allen so then did she marry the visitor William Devereux this 1911 sensus is in Formby Liverpool and my mum said that's where her mum had grown up but I've been in touch the owner of the narrowmore tree on ancestry.com he said he doesn't think hannah remarried and has no knowledge of a William Devereux

How do you know her mum's maiden name is Allen if you don't have a birth certificate?  Do you have the marriage certificate of her parents?

Ah so this is where you got the Allen informaton, sorry your posts are a little confusing.  What year was your nan born and where do you think she was born?

Yes that's how it seems to me. William and Hannah Allen married in Ormskirk in 1915. Eileen Devereux was registered in Ormskirk in 1915 , mother's name Allen , rather than Narrowmore - probably a mistake, and then another child , William J Devereux was registered in Ormskirk in 1916 with the correct mother's maiden name of Narrowmore.

As for the Narrowmore tree I couldn't see that one on Ancestry but , having just looked , there are other trees which do have Hannah marrying Allen and then Devereux. Really it would be best to rely on your own findings rather than other trees. I would order Eileen Devereux's birth certificate , which will confirm her parents' names. I would expect it to say mother : Hannah Allen , formerly Narrowmore. You might also order the marriage certificate for Hannah Allen and William Devereux as that will confirm their fathers' names.

Mac As you are new to this let me tell you please do not rely on information you see on other people's family trees, they may not be correct.

You have to research yourself so you can prove your research is correct.

I am seconding Jaywit, there are some absolute shockers on Ancestry!!!  If your tree is on there just remember the shaky leaves are just hints not facts.   ::)

One of my distant rellies has our g.g.g. grandfather marrying at the age of 127.  :o
