Having finally (after many years of looking) found a baptism for Henry Houghton b 1769 somewhere in Essex (in Rickling) only to discover his parents weren't married the Mother was one of many Elizabeth Reads and Father Thomas Houghton who we think may be the Thomas Houghton from Little Hallingbury. We have tried for a long time to link Henry to the Little Hallingbury Houghton as he and his descendants all cross over with the Little Hallingbury Houghton's. This was in the notes of the baptism - "base son of Elizabeth Read and Thomas Houghton the putative father". Henry Married Anne Gunn in Takeley in 1793 and they settled in Stansted Mountfichet. Has anyone researched the Read family already and can possibly help out? Also, does anyone know where we can go from here? Thank you in advance for your help x

Had a look on FreeREG and your Henry was on there bap 19/3/1769, but there was another one as well Henry Houghton bap 13/3/1769 father James, mother Mary. Little Hallingbury.
There was a son born to Henry and Ann bap 15/6/1800 called Thomas-- Stansted Mountfichet.

Thank you this is them we have been trying to link Henry to the little hallingbury family for quite  sometime. The suspected father also had a brother called Henry and till we found thr baptism we had thought him to be the father. Henry and Ann have their eldest  son the name Thomas so we have no doubts he is out man and James and His wife Mary have links to Henry and Anns  son Henry later on. The big issue we  are faced with is ascertaining which Elizabeth Read is the Mother. We are heading to Tickling tomorrow for clues x

Please could you post the baptism for Henry son of James and Mary in Little Hallingbury, having opened my tree I had it mixed up with James b 1769 to Willam and Mary and would like to see other baptism as I cannot find it myself on freereg. Thanks x
