My best guess would be 1930's given the little girls clothes

About 7 years old would be my guess....she may have lost her front baby teeth as her smile looks like she could be hiding her the fact  ;D ;D ;D

Thanks Carol it certainly has improved the look. Have just got to figure out who the little girl is,was hoping it was my husbands eldest sister, but she wasn't born until 1934.

I wouldn't rule out it being early 1940s Sheila so it could easily be her...clothes were often passed on during the war years.

This could easily be a photo from the early forties, childrens styles didnt move on a great deal and she looks about seven , so not a great stretch from the thirties to early forties.

Could be worth a try,  I have a number of photos in my collection of youngsters and cannot pair them up with any adults in the family, very frustrating, although I have tried the 'ears don't change' and distance between features technique. Shame when people remain unidentified, but if people don't write on the reverse we are left with these dilemmas.
