Looking for any information on Leonard Roy Brown born 1921, Truro. There are 2 births listed, one is for Kearsley-Brown the other for Brown both with same mother " Williams" Truro 5c 196 . He was an uncle and I've never heard the Kearsley name before so assume one must be a transcription error.
He married Joyce W Sanders in 1945 in London and they had a daughter in 1948. Leonard Roy and Joyce died in 2002 in Yeovil.
I would like to confirm Leonard Roy's birth details and maybe his parents. Also he was a high ranking police officer in the Kenya police force probably between 1948 and 1960 during the Mau Mau uprising. I have been trying to find his police record but no success yet. Thanks.

Topic on him that you started a few days ago on another board so that others can see what's already been discussed- http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=747514
It may be that the birth certificate will shed light on the name Kearsley that you haven't seen before.
Added: there is another Kearsley-Brown birth in Truro a few years earlier & 2 births after so unlikely to be a transcription error.

Guy E.R. Kearsley-Brown married to Cecilia M. Williams 1915 Truro are the likely parents for the 4 Kearsley-Brown children mentioned above.
Cecilia Marion Kearsley-Brown (12 Jan.1888-Oct./Dec.1973 Redbridge district) also shown on Free BMD.

Leonard R Kearsley Brown married Pauline A Clark in Ipswich in 1947, and they lived subsequently in Canada in the 1950's and 1960's. I think this is not the Leonard Roy Brown that you are searching for.

Yes ShaunJ you are correct.
Have we got the correct birth year/place for Leonard R Brown.Such a prolific name.
The 1939 has Joyce [WJ]Brown [Sanders] date of birth 1924 in Lewisham.
As this register had many uses, some married names were added later for the early Health Service I believe.

Hi brionne,
Thanks for the information, Joyce Sanders is correct her sister Freda married Cyril Williams in1942. Not sure about Leonard Roy though, the birth date is wrong. His death was 2002 aged 78 which would make his birth 23/24. I also remember that he had a very strong west country accent which leeds us back to Truro but that date is suspicious.

At last, this may be positive. This one matches your death in Yeovil 2002.

Leonard E Brown to Elizabeth Flynn

Hi brionne, That one seems to fit, marriage date ties up with Leonard except the E think that should be G. Whats puzzling me now is why Joyce in the 1939 is listed as Sanders/Brown, she certainly was'nt married then as she was only 15.

Thanks Scorpio, unfortunately this site has recently moved its goalposts, since I first joined way back in 2005.
Today, its a completely different scenario, outgrown itself perhaps, however most importantly is trying to protect from individuals who may cause increasing global security threats,,,,, my view.
Rootschat has been a godsend to my own research, giving invaluable help, over the years.
I have tried to give something back in return, but recently have been really targeted.
So this site going on the back burner for a while.
Who knows things may change.Good luck with this research.Cheers Brionne.
