Hi Rosie.
How do I know the user input to that site is correct?
It must have been a typo. I think the following is correct.

Hi omega,
This has been a problem for me because the birth of my direct ancestor appears to have been after the death of both Francis and Elizabeth. I have never found a birth/baptism around 1795 - 1796 for son Charles. I keep asking about the burials because I keep getting different answers.
Five years ago.

My paternal grandmother was a Furner so this line is very important for my tree.
I've been given the 1795 date for Francis by several people but the 1797 still appears in some records.
Just trying to get it sorted.

I tried the catalogue for Brede St George and for Hastings St Clements and Hastings All Saints and received the following message.

Interesting, I'm only getting "Sign in with Free Account", when I sign in I get access to the records. I wonder if its restricted to UK users, unless someone else can confirm if they've used them overseas. I tried "Parish registers for St. Clement's Church, Hastings, 1558-1888". :-\

Fred, Familysearch don't have copies of the original Brede St George PRs, only transcripts and its the transcripts which do give you the message you got. You need to select the original PRs for Hastings St Clements and All Saints as they do work, I suspect you may have been selecting the transcripts they have.
Link to Hastings St Clement - https://familysearch.org/search/catalog/216129?availability=Family%20History%20Library
Link to Hastings All Saints - https://familysearch.org/search/catalog/216121?availability=Family%20History%20Library
I can access both with a free account.

Hello Fred
I have checked, checked & double checked the dates for Francis, the date given is 1795.
Maybe 5 years ago I was having one off my senior moments putting 1797 ::)
I have looked for Charles on SFHG & can find no reference for him, sorry.
kind regards
