We have recently uncovered addressed to my Granddad (Wictor Tylman). Sadly, it is handwritten in Polish and my comprehension of Polish never extended further than the basic greetings, etc.
Can anyone help to decipher (translate even) this hand-written letter?

Ok, allowing I only did evening classes in Polish quite some time ago...
The letter is addressed to a man called Wiktor. His uncle Aleksander is happy that Wiktor is saved by divine will. The uncle had received a letter from Wiktor's parents. His mother sent the message to Aleksander about Wiktor being saved. The mother was very touched. Wiktor's letter to his parents took three months to arrive. The uncle asks for more details and a letter from Wiktor.
Some grammar structures are old-fashioned, so by all means if a native speaker disagrees with any of this, clearly, go with them..

Thank you - your translation has surfaced the key information (relationship between Aleksander and Wiktor - my grandad). I have recently been privy to a document which we believe details the wedding of Wicktor's parents (again in Polish). Alexsander's surname matches what we now believe is my gt-grans maiden name.
I for one have benefitted from your evening classes! Thank you so much.
The letter leaves me wondering from what Wiktor has been saved.

Perhaps he had been ill? Or 'saved' in the religious sense?

I had assumed/considered that the answer may have simply been that he was one of the soldiers that survived the war.
