Title: Isaacetta Jones 1887 to 1959
Post by: davierj on Tuesday 07 June 16 12:45 BST (UK)
In Aberystwyth Cemetery records a grave at Plot 2 grave number 668 contains 4 burials.   3 are identifiable family members, one seems to be the odd one out.   They are.........
Elizabeth Jones of 41 Greenfield St, buried 9 Jan 1932
David Jones of 8 Maes yr Afon, buried 5 Feb 1964 - her son
Gwladys Feltham (previously Jones, née Hughes) of 16 Penmorfa, buried 5 Oct 1981 - her daughter in law
Isaacetta Jones 0f Avelsbury, buried 3 Nov 1959 - no obvious relation

I have traced Isaacetta's birth to 1887 and her parents Isaac Jones and Emma Ann Jenkins together with her 5 siblings listed on censuses 1881, 1901 and 1911.   Isaac and Emma are buried in Aberystwyth Cemetery together with 2 of their children in Plot 9 grave 994.   Emma Ann Jenkins was born about 1845 to parents Edward Jenkins and Mary.   Edward bore the grand title of Bellman of the Town and Cowkeeper.

I am unable to find any link between Isaacetta Jones and the family with whom she shares her final resting place.   Or is it a mistake in cemetery records?   Any thoughts gratefully received.

Cheers Dave

Do you mean she wasn't her daughter in law?

Daughter in law infers Isaacetta was married so her birth name wouldn't be Jones.

Oh forget that I think I have read it wrong - "her daughter in law" refers to Gwladys  :-[

Don't forget that the term "daughter-in-law" can also refer to a step-daughter! ;D

Gwladys Feltham was Elizabeth Jones's daughter in law, married to David Jones, Elizabeth's oldest child.   Isaacetta is the odd one out and I can find no link to the others.   Note that she, Isaacetta, was buried before the son and daughter in law so should, by inference, be connected to Elizabeth Jones (nee Jones) or the family of her husband, Richard Jones, killed 1916 with no known grave.

Cheers Dave

Isaacetta's will shows that probate was granted to Richard Jones, jeweller.
Does that mean anything to you?

Maybe they were just filling up the plots in the cemetery and she had room in hers for another family  :-\

For more information on the family follow the link to my website, The Welsh Connection, on the left.   Enter the name Elizabeth Jane Jones in the box, top right, and search.   She is the Elizabeth in the grave.

Richard Jones, jeweller, was her brother.   It could be, as I mentioned earlier, a mistake or as Milliepede suggests, just filling up.

The cemetery records give Avelsbury as her address.

Grave 663 has a Jones family - Richard- with an address Ayelsbury  :-\

Grave 663 is the correct Richard Jones family and the same address as Isaacetta.
I wonder if it is a mistranscription of grave number?

Thanks Heyward, it's getting to look more and more as if it's a mistake in transcribing.   I remember well the original handwritten records that were kept in enormous tomes stored in the cemetery keeper's brick shed.   Not the clearest of records!

The residents of grave 663 are undoubtedly Isaacetta's siblings.   Richard's address was given as 5 Alexandra Road which was the family home in 1911 and Aylesbury is shown as being in Alexandra Road also, undoubtedly the name of a house.

Thanks for the burial info, Dave

Perhaps half the '8' was feint for the transcriber.  :)
