Hi, I am hoping that I might find someone on this forum who is researching Elvet Thomas Harries Jenkins, born around 1919/1920 in Haverfordwest. I have found one man with this name, born 1920, but he married in Haverfordwest in 1949 and died there in 1968. There is another Elvet Thomas Jenkins born in Haverfordwest in 1919, and I am thinking that he might be the one I am looking for. My Elvet married Betty Adam, in Blairgowrie, Perthshire, Scotland in 1943. I have found the marriage record on Scotland's People. I am interested to find any information about this Elvet Jenkins i.e. parents, so that I can trace them back to the censuses.

if you have found the marriage record, why not buy the certificate which should give you names of his parents including his mother's maiden name?

Hi Diana If you are sure this is the right marriage I would order a copy and that will give you the parents names and the names of the witnesses which will help you with your research

Thanks Rosie and Osprey, I didn't realise that it would give mother's maiden names as English/Welsh certs don't do that do they? Only father's names. I will send for the certificate.

Yes the Scottish certificates give a lot more information also the birth records will give you the parent's marriage date as well ( statutory records )...Good luck with your research

Someone told me that Scotland's People have records of divorce also, but I haven't been able to find this section. Do you know if that is correct?

Hi Diana I think you would need to go Edinburgh to the main Scotlands People centre to check for divorces ...Try google national records of Scotland .gov.uk it will tell you a bit about divorce records

Yes they did! Born in 1944. I am wondering if you are related? We are not allowed to mention names on here of anyone who might still be living, but if you make another couple (I think) of posts, you will then be allowed to send a Personal Message.

That would of been my dad born in 1944 who later died in 1981

Have you done much research into your family history, or are you just starting out? Rootschat is an amazing forum. I have had loads of help from people on here, some 'over and above the call' you know!
