Title: REBELLION PAPERS 1790S
Post by: cattao on Thursday 30 June 16 08:29 BST (UK)
Looking for some facts/stories of the 1794? rebellion papers, have a convict Patrick Keighran sent to Australia 1796 per Marquis Cornwallis and need some background if possible as to trial, what was happening at the time, any help would be great to build a picture of those times.
Cheers

My first reaction to your post was 'that's the wrong year, the rebellion was 1798' but I did a bit of searching and found this http://www.iol.com/~fagann/1798/dfender3.htm its not an easy read but gives an idea of the build up to 1798 through 1793 to 95.

Thanks folks, I have the treeofus information, talked to the owner, downloaded the 'heavy reading' of the rebellion and will take it in.  pcug. link not working correctly today and have seen Peter Maybery's work which is great. Sadly when people put their stuff on the net very few sources are given and I'e been trained to find those sources. As yet have to check out if any of our early newspapers are on Trove but I'm getting there.  Many thanks again.

Thanks again everyone, I do have the convict index and quite a bit about the family it was the early times in Ireland I needed to get my head around.  So have printed out the papers and will sit and digest!
