Title: The Tolpuddle Martyres Family Tree
Post by: Kath Costley on Saturday 02 July 16 12:33 BST (UK)
Hi There
I would like to contact any living relatives of any of the Martyres.
The aim is to make the connection to the whole tree.
Anyone interested ? Kath.C.

Have you looked at the various websites?
It doesn't look as though the 6 Martyrs had much in the way of connections?

See: http://www.tolpuddlemartyrs.org.uk

Go to Meet the Martyrs, (http://www.tolpuddlemartyrs.org.uk/meet-martyrs), scroll down, and there is a link to a PDF file of the Family Tree ;D

Also available as a poster:
http://www.tolpuddlemartyrs.org.uk/shop/products/family-tree

The Martyrs were:
George Loveless
James Brine
James Hammett
James Loveless (George's brother)
John Standfield
Thomas Standfield (father of John)

When i was at primary school in village near Tolpuddle one pupil with surname Hammett claimed he was descended from a martyr  - I don't know how true it was - maybe just thought he was, having the same surname. There were also Lovelesses in the school, but seeing the Loveless martyrs went to Canada, if they were connected it would likely be to brothers of the martyrs.

I think the on line tree is still a work in progress, the Hammett lines don't go very far.

"The Tolpuddle Six, the Hammett Relative" book has comprehensive and accurate Tolpuddle Hammett family trees.  Also some Loveless ones.  :)

My father was Ronald Loveless, born in 1938 in London Ontario. He had an older sister, born in England. I have no further information but there’s a possibility that I might be related to the Tolpuddle martyrs.
