Could anyone help me please. My gr gr gr grandfather was called Henry Osborne but I'm struggling to find anything about his parents or who his wife was. Henry was born in old lenton nottingham abt 1797 and married Mary in 1818. I think she's called Mary lamb. One census has Mary born in Pembroke but can't find her. They had I think 3 children: maria, Jane and my gr gr grandfather Henry born N'ham 1829.

You obviously have found some records to have the date of the marriage. There are some transcribed parish registers on Find My Past for Nottinghamshire - and certainly there is a marriage in 13/12/1818 between a Henry Osborne and a Mary Lamb at St Mary's Church.
Looking at baptisms immediately after that marriage there are a few - but we have no way of knowing if this is your Henry and mary as this couple keep moving about!
1819 Henry abode Plumbtree Place
1822 Mary Maria but this as at Lenton Priory so may not be the correct couple
1823 John abode Pleasant Place
1828 William abode Woodland Place
1829 Henry (no 2) abode Orchard St.
There may be more after that - but if this is yours Henry number 1 must have died.
There is a Henry Osborne baptised at St Mary's on 17/8/1797 with a father Joseph and a mother Ann -- but normally you would expect one of Henry's children to have been named after his father, ie Joseph --- so maybe that isn't the correct baptism.
There was a Mary Lamb baptised at St Mary's 28/7/1796 -- father John, mother Martha.

The 1851 census shows Henry aged 51 so birthyear 1800 (ish) but Mary was 61. Mary's birthplace on the 1851 image is North Wales Pembroke ??Bignall Hill

I notice that the Henry baptised in 1829 (your ancestor) also names a daughter Mary Maria. So that baptism of the Mary Maria born to Henry senior and Mary is definitely correct.
I cannot see a Henry baptised around 1800 on the Nottinghamshire transcribed records though - nor on Non-Conformist. However there are several Osborns and variants being baptised in Nottinghamshire around that time.
Unfortunately the parish registers are not showing a mother's maiden name. So we don't know for sure that Henry senior's wife was Mary Lamb -- certainly the census record found by Carole, which gives her birthplace as Wales, puts a questionmark over her.
Lamb -- not a particularly common name in Wales - and I cannot immediately see a baptism at the right time amongst Welsh baptisms. (That doesn't mean it's not there though!).
I think we need to hunt some more!

It is so kind of you to help me. My dad, now deceased, did the initial legwork for this and I have picked up his notes. It is possible perhaps with Mary being older that Henry married her as a widow? So lamb may be a married name ? I have tried on family search, which has been amazing for some of the family but not for these two.

I haven't 'given up' on this quite yet -- haven't had time today, but will resume the hunt later in the hope that something useful will suddenly spring forth!

Do you have Henry's death / burial ? His death certificate will confirm his age. It looks like he died between 1871 & 1881

On the transcribed parish marriage register on Find My Past - there is no indication whether Mary was a spinster or a widow unfortunately. Maybe, just maybe - the actual registers will show this.
I cannot find any other appropriate marriage for Henry Osborne (or variant) to a Mary - except for the one to Mary Lamb.
This isn't what you are seeking, but Nottingham Cemetery burial records are on Deceased On Line (this is a subscription or pay per view site).
Henry was buried in Grave G5335 on 29 March 1872
Mary, his wife is in the same grave - buried on 28 April 1867 - aged 78
also in the grave are;
Jane Burbage (nee Osborne) who was buried aged 40 on 7 Dec 1874
Maria Wooding (who MAY be Mary Maria Osborne) who was buried in 1863 aged 41.
I have to say some of these grave numbers have been mistranscribed - so if you do look at the site it will appear that Mary and Henry are NOT in the same grave. However, viewing the images indicates the grave number in all cases is G5335.
Hence - at this minute - we don't know Mary's birth details - but we do know where she is buried!
