Im looking for information on the railway station in South Luffenham. The station doesnt exist anymore and the line removed. My Great Grandfather Joseph Alfred Simpson was the station master there in 1881.

The station served both South & North Luffenham, being 0-8 miles from each village.

How can I access records for employees working for the company? I can see on one photo some employees standing on the platform, it would be great to think one of them could have been Joseph Simpson.

By the time he was there, he would have been working for the Midlands Railway.

By coincidence, I found your post while doing exactly the same thing as you. Joseph Alfred Simpson was my second great uncle (so you and I are distant relatives) but from looking at census returns many of my direct ancestors (including his younger brother, my great grandfather) obviously spent a lot of time living with him. My g-g-f was there at South Luffenham with him for two separate successive censuses and I suspect that Joseph probably took a key role in bringing him up. Tracing his story it strikes me that he must have been a linchpin in his family and I instinctively like him!
If you pick up this message up I'd be interested to hear some more about what you have found out about him.
