Title: Birmingham cemeteries
Post by: Julia Green on Thursday 07 July 16 15:08 BST (UK)
Hello, I'd like to find the grave of my great grandfather and grandmother. Unfortunately I don't know which cemetery they would be in.  Their details are as follows:

Richard Vallance Charles GREEN DOB 1871 died 1935
Mary Anne GREEN (nee Spencer) DOB 1866 not sure of date of debt but likely to be around 1935 ish.

They lived in Sparkhill, Birmingham 11

I may be asking the impossible, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

A little off course for me but If you have problems locating local cemeteries.

If they lived in Sparkhill one of the Cemeteries Robin Hood Cemetery, were they could be interred is now administered by Solihull Borough Council.
The other likely cemetery Yardley is still in Birmingham.
The Birmingham Library records as outlined by KGarrard should give you details.

Hi,

Totally off course from previous message.  Hoping this is the right Forum, new to it today.  I have been researching my family tree and have come across a Burial at Witton Cemetery, Birmingham.  I have previously found another ancestor from a different cemetery and managed to get the information directly.  Now I'm stuck on this one.  Looks like this one was a child.  Born in 1889 and died in 1890.  Would they have parish records for this?

Many thanks,

Theresa  :)

you could try birmingham and midland society for genealogy and heraldry looking at the search index. i used it and found most of my relatives were buried in witton. you can also buy burial records which are quite interesting they give grave number, address of person etc.

 Hello Theresa,

If it is for Witton Cemetery it will be Cemetery  burial records you are after rather than parish records. The Birmingham & Midland Society of Genealogy and Heraldry have transcribed these records . You can purchase a copy of the burial record for about £5.00 each. ( cheaper than a death certificate ) Try contacting the  BMSGH shop  http://bmsgh-shop.org.uk/

There is a jewellery research quarter trust.org.    jqrt.org     It may be worth checking the data bases on there, they cover hockley cemeteries, warstone lane and key hill. It's a free site , a work in progress and there different information on there. Lots of old gravestones still intact.

I have checked with the " Friends of Key Hill Cemetery  & Warstone Lane Cemetery " Database and also checked Witton Records . Richard Green died 1935 is not buried in either of these tree cemeteries.
