Any thoughts please , daughter of 'something' Knight
-
Could be Nina or Mrs but a bit difficult to read the scan is very dark :-\ ;)
-
Possibly "Mrs" ?
-
sorry i know it is dark it has come from my technophobic mums phone, so she has done quite well really , thanks for your suggestion :)
-
I have lightened it but it is also blurred but I would go with Mrs'.
-
I think its 4 letters but not sure
-
same entry 172 Mount Zion Rd Kilner Bank
-
same entry Lucy Windle
-
My effort at editing bit blurred :-\
-
It is a death entry for a 5 yr old girl who died in a house fire, Lucy's mother lived with Hephzibah Knight and her husband Edgar. The extended Knight family lived on Kilner bank too.
The childs baptism record states Emily Windle as mother ..... come her burial record daughter of a 'somebody' knight.
Mum always said their was some scandle re this child, but she doesn't know what.
We are now going round the bend trying to find out who the Knight is on her burial record.

thanks 3sillydogs looks better lighter :)
-
When i say scandle, that is maybe the wrong word but their was some sort of 'cover up' or secret we just don't know what it was.
-
Hmm, first glance "Nora"

Perhaps Lucy's death certificate may throw more light on this, which is discussed further here.

I have my own 'guess' but don't want to say, see if anyone else comes up with the same name. It's a name i have never come accross in my own tree, but i haven't gone far along the branches !!
-
I see "Mrs."
Carol
-
Now i see it , yes i agree Mrs , comparing with the M on Mount !!
Hmmm that doesn't help much with the puzzle :-\
Thanks folks much appreciated as always.

As I suggested, perhaps you should invest in the death certificate for Lucy and also perhaps her birth certificate.
-
Hi, a couple of newspaper entries relating to the tragedy refer to Lucy simply as "a little girl named Knight" eg Nottingham Evening Post 22 November 1906.
Mother (unnamed) was said to have been "dozing on a sofa in the same room" when the child's clothes caught fire.

Also, I think you have to remember that "adoption" was not official until 1927, so Edgar and Hephzibar may have "adopted" Lucy at some time between 1901 and Lucy's death. Again her death certificate may be the answer.
1911 census entry suggests that both Hephzibar and Emily have lost one child.

Yes I agree with Bumble.
