Title: thomas and john strong
Post by: donagher on Wednesday 20 July 16 10:20 BST (UK)
Hi could someone tell me if i can access prison records for spike island, my ancestors were held there till they were transported to tasmania australia. their crime was committed in lisduff ireland and they were tried at kings co in 1850. Would these records show where they were born or at least where they lived. A witness to their crime had recognised the strong brothers from the blue ball, i do not know what the blue ball was... maybe a tavern or inn i am also guessing it would have been in lisduff.
Any help would be appreciated
Thank you

Could have been added to original request on IRELAND board. This really belongs there also- just click on 'report to moderator' and ask for the thread to be moved to the CORK board.

There were a number of Strong children baptised in the Mountmellick RC parish area from mid 1820s to early 1840s to parents Thomas Strong and Mary Barton, this included a John in 1832. Nothing else to suggest they're your folk, but just worth noting, purely on the offchance the surname Barton crops up in any leads going forward.
