You've got his marriage certificate. Did he marry in a Roman Catholic or Protestant church?
-
I dont know what the church was i dont know the difference , if you give me the site to search the cathlic records i will look there
-
If you tell us the name of the church they married in (exactly what it says) that will be suffice.

This thread is on the SLIGO board but the other is on IRELAND. Really not a good idea to have more than one topic as duplication causes needless confusion and extra work.

The marriage certificate will give that place the marriage took place- was it a church or registry office?
Civil registration of births in Ireland started in 1864
Online Catholic Parish Registers are here but you'll need to browse by parish-

The church was st marys hartlepool

I didnt know there was another post on ireland board maybe some one could remove it or can it be moved to this one

The church was st marys hartlepool
Catholic Church but doesn't mean both were of the Catholic religion either but it's a good pointer for now :P
My parents married in a Catholic Church although my mother was an Atheist.
I didnt know there was another post on ireland board
No problem with more than 1 post as long as people have links so as not to duplicate efforts......
looking up things which have already been addressed.

If st marys was a cathlolic church then i think both bride and groom were catholic as both were born sligo and matthew and cathrins brother were in the newspaper fighting together against prodistants but when i discovered this i didnt know what religion he was

The original thread on IRELAND board was started only 2 hours before you started this one on SLIGO board so how could you not know it was there ??? Four pages of replies there so far :-\

I firstly had the thread on the general board then some one suggested it got moved to ireland thread in between the moderator moving it i had placed this thread , that is how i didnt know there were 2 threads one for sligo the other for ireland
-
Have you followed up the birthplace of 'Seaforth' on the 1911 census?
As pointed out on the other thread I mentioned, there was a 'Seaforth House' in Sligo :-\
-
It couldnt have been 2hr between unles the moderator didnt move the original straight away i realy dont want to upset any one as it sounds like iv upset you so i will ask moderator to remove both posts and i wont bother placing another and will give up looking but thanks to all who helped
-
There's no point giving up looking.
There was just confusion about the two threads, which you have explained.
Going back to birthplaces, have you followed up 'Seaforth' ?
-
But you started both of them a few hours apart (and posted on both of them afterwards) so you should have known there were 2 threads somewhere ::) Would be a good idea if you read through the replies on BOTH before checking the Sligo church records in case there is something useful to make you search a bit easier.
You can use 'report to moderator' and ask for the 2 threads to be merged and kept on SLIGO board if you wish but removing both threads (which usually isn't done) means that any replies that people posted will also be removed.
-
I have just asked moderator to merge my other thread on matthew to this one
-
No iv not followed seaford because on the census it says seaford durham but its worth a try thanks

Have you looked at the original? it seems to me that the word Durham has been added in a different handwriting. All that was originally written was 'Seaforth' (NOT Seaford).
At least try to follow it up. It might lead nowhere but it's worth trying. We need to know which R.C. Parish Seaforth House was in?
-
I will give it a go how can i find out which parish seaforth house was in im willing to try anything to find him iv to many brick walls in my tree

-
Could you please tell us what link you are talking about- I can't see any here that require you to register and pay for information ???

The link I posted for the Catholic parish registers is FREE and you DO NOT need to register- please tell us exact what website this is supposed to be!
http://www.nli.ie/en/parish-register.aspx
The NLI microfilmed registers from the majority of Catholic parishes in Ireland and Northern Ireland during the 1950s and 1960s. Digital images from these microfilms are now freely available on the website: Catholic Parish Registers at the NLI.
The 2nd link for that site I posted was for Ballysodare & Kilvarnet registers also FREE-

Was this the site where you registered?
