Hello,
I uploaded my DNA data to My Heritage three weeks ago and it's still showing as being processed. Anyone got past the waiting stage yet?
-
Don't talk to me about those jokers. I joined their Premium 'club' last week and they wanted MORE money to access any records!
Seems the initial fee is just for a big storage folder >:( Took me 5 days trying to cancel membership - and NO refund. :P

Hi Westfield
Thank you so much I thought it was only me thinking it was a rip off, you have saved me the cost of a premium subscription and all I wanted to do was contact someone that I know was a relo but I bawked at the cost
cheers mate

I originally loaded my raw data to MyHeritage but removed it when I found out they use the imputation method for finding matches.
As I understand it, "imputation" means they take an educated guess at the parts of your DNA that aren't tested and then find "matches" based on those guesses - the result being a lot of highly unlikely "matches."
DNA.LAND use the same methodology and I removed my raw data from there when they told me it was "normal" and "to be expected" that I would match a supposed 5th cousin but not match either of his parents.

I'm having major problems with My Heritage
I bought a premium subscription and am now having problems accessing anything
I am seriously thinking of cancelling my site subscription. Some of the record sets are good. Perhaps I'll keep the data subscription and just delete my tree
I also got a DNA test from them. It was the cheapest out there!
I've got some dna matches but my tree and my dna are not linked so I can't match surnames between their tree and mine (because my tree of 2000+ people doesn't exist apparently, they are aware of the issue and are trying to fix it)
I've uploaded my data to gedmatch but am struggling to understand it all. I've found all sorts of information and guides, but I'm still very lost. I'm going to try familytreedna now
This is hard work!!

I've transferred DNA from FamilyTreeDNA to MyHeritage and have found some closish cousins that are not elsewhere, so it has been very helpful. Since FamilyTreeDNA processes the samples I guess there is no imputation on those matches as the same SNPs are included.
-
I guess there is no imputation on those matches
Imputation is the matching method. It is used whether the test is purchased from MyHeritage or the results are transferred from elsewhere.
Imputation has less effect on genuine close relatives. The impact is on more distant relationships.

I didn't know that. We know the connection (it's only a couple of generations back).

It takes ages for MyHeritage to give you your DNA results when you use their DNA testing service. I have finally got my results and received 35 DNA matches while my son has 64 matches. We then registered with gedmatch and uploaded the DNA data file and have hundreds of matches. Now I want to find out if I can upload the MyHeritage results (DNA data file) to Ancestry or isnt this possible? Does anyone know if you can do this and if they do how to do it?

I dont understand very much when it comes to Gedmatch either but at least I upped my DNA matches from 34 to 2000 with Gedmatch now I just need the courage to contact people on Gedmatch

Now I want to find o
Ancestry does not accept transfers from any other provider.

Yes, you will still get genuine matches.
-
Do you have to have a subscription to get your raw data? Have registered and done the test, got the Ethnicity estimate.
Don't panic, found out how.

FamilyTreeDNA is now accepting autosomal DNA transfers from MyHeritage. I e-mailed the cousins this morning and one appeared as a new match at FtDNA this afternoon.

Would you be so kind as to PM me so we can discuss how you did this? I just received my test results this week from MyHeritage.
Thanks!

Hi Fogmoose, it's well hidden, but if you log into your MyHeritage account, go to "Manage DNA kits", on the right hand side are 3 dts, click on them and click on "Download DNA kit", follow the prompts and save to wherever you want. It's all in a zip file.
