Hi...
Don't mean to sound rude but you have posted a request where it says "Please don't post requests here".....
It may be an idea to ask a Mod to move to Lancashire board?

Hi,
If you know Samuel Robert Roberts had a half brother & have his death date....does it not give his name ???
Where did you get the info. regarding the half brother ???
Where are they buried & when did the unnamed half brother die & how old was he on death ???
What other (if any) info. do you have which you could share please?
Who did your g/father marry/where/when....who was his mother ???

Did you see Rosinish's questions in reply#5?
Some more info would help! How do you know the guy in the same grave is his half brother? What is the name of this person etc etc (I wont repeat, as Roisinish has already listed things that would help)
Do tell us all you know!

Your request has now been moved to Lancashire board although you can still access it as you have previously so you don't need to do anything ;)

Ok the info I have up to now ...I found my great grandfathers grave in southern cemetery when I saw it it said brother and the date he was born and died...frank Roberts born1888 he died on the 1st nov 1932 so I looked at some records and he left a will which states half blood of Samuel Robert Roberts there's nothing on the 1891 census but then he's there in 1901 at 13 ...
I found that Samuel Lewis born 1865 married a Mary Jones they married in port wood Cheshire... On May 22nd 1890....
-
Here is the 1901
49 Liddell Street, Ardwick, Manchester
Samuel L Roberts 36 bricklayer bn Liverpool
Mary 32 bn Ardwick
Kate A 70 widow mother bn Ireland
Frank 13 son
Kate A 8 dtr
Samuel R 5
Lewis 10 mths children all bn Manchester
So it looks as if Samuel Lewis had been married before
-
Thanx....I've seen that census I think he may of been married before but I can't find anything..
-
This 1891 fits as far as a Chester marriage and son called Frank - but ages and pobs very different to the 1901!
1891
111 Chitterton Rd Chester
Samuel Roberts 38 gas stoker bn Chester
Mary 33 bn Whitchurch Salop
Gladys 5
Frank 4
Edith 3
Samuel 1
Lily 4 mths children all bn Chester
A diffrerent family on the face of it.
-
Yes think that may be a different family..thanx though
-
Frank is George F Roberts age 3 born Manchester in 1891 - RG12\2803 folio 80 page 39. Samuel and Mary married as Bachelor and Spinster so I would think that Frank was born a Jones.
Sorry, really must be off to bed or I would transcribe the census.

So if frank was born a Jones that means he wasn't Samuels son then....it defo says half blood on the will frank left for my great grandfather...I really want to find out then I can order a birth certificate for him...
-
He would still be a half brother if they shared a mother. Maybe Frank took his stepfathers name when his mum married.
-

I don't know about Samuel Lewis but in 1891 Samuel Snr is living in Stockport with the rest of his family
He must have died between 1891 and 1901 because his wife Kate is a widow on the 1901 census
It's a long shot but could he have died and been buried in Stockport ?
There is a death record for a Samuel Roberts aged 74 death registered in 1892
http://www.cheshirebmd.org.uk/
Added...Daughter Edith has father dec on her 1898 marriage so that narrows in down a bit more
-
Thank you Rolnora I. Will phone Stockport council see what info they can give me about church burials....
-
I think you will need to get in touch with Stockport Heritage Library either by phone or email.
they will be able to point you in the right direction.

Given that daughter Alice was 16 in 1871, I think this must be Samuel and family in 1861.
Not sure about Samuel's age though, he's 45 in 1861 and 43 in 1871.. did he fib about his age when he married Kate ???

There is a marriage Freebmd for a Samuel Roberts and Gwen Lewis Dec 1838 Pwllheli 27 523
It's possible then that Samuel Lewis Roberts was given Samuel's first wife's maiden name as his middle name. ::)
-
Thank you very confusing with Samuel age keep changing ..
