Title: 1861 Channel Is Census

I have an address for family - can I find details of  1861 census by address??

Family are Edward  Coombe Sanders and Elizabeth Sanders

53 Don St
St Helier
Jersey

Grateful for any help.

It depends whether your provider of the census transcription offers you the facility to search by address. The one that I use 'The Genealogist' does. However are you certain that 53 Don Street was their address in 1861, there is a family headed by an Edward Saunders, 33, Carpenter at 34 Don Street, with wife Elizabeth and children Edward 8, Elizabeth,3 and William 1 month.

thanks for that - name spelt wrong but the right family.
Edward died in June and census was in April

Not necessarily wrong - just different!
Spellings weren't as important back then; as long as it sounded right.
And remember that it's the enumerator, registrar, cleric, priest or whatever that is writing down HIS idea of the spelling ::)
