Hi Rosie. Thank you for replying. I'm totally new to searching for my roots and new, as of today, to Rootschat. I don't know about the reference numbers you quoted. However John and Mary had 8 children: -John (b 1862), Daniel (b 1864), James (b 1867), Mary Ann (b 1872), Thomas - my grandfather (b 1874), Pickering (B 1876), Roger (b 1879) and Charlotte (b 1880).
I wonder if John and Mary's parents came from Ireland as I cannot find them on the census.

Hi Rosie. Just seen your other posts and yes it is the same family.

How do you know you can't find them if you don't know their names?
Debra :)

Quite true, Debra. I looked up both John and Mary on Ancestry and and it stated both parents of both parties were unknown. I thought I would try and get hold of John and Mary's birth certificates. That might tell me.

You really need the marriage certificate which should show fathers names and occupations.
If it is Family trees on Ancestry that you are looking at please treat them with caution as they are not totally reliable. Just because several people have the same information it is often because they have just copied each other.
