Hi all.
In the England & Wales, Civil Registration Birth Index in the 4th quarter of 1845 there are the following entries:
Helps Sarah Bath xi 12
Helps Sarah Chippenham viii 283
Helps Thomas Chippenham viii 286
Helps Thomas Bath xi 13
There is one Helps entry between lines 2 and 3 of a different person, but I'm not interested in that one.
The question is are these 4 different people or two people entered twice in different areas? My guess would be the latter (too much of a coincidence otherwise?) but I would appreciate the view of more experienced people than I please.
Thanks
Stuart

Have you checked for 1851 entries for each of them? You will find 2 different entries for Sarah - one b Corsham Wilts (Chippenham RD) and the other b Weston Somerset (Bath RD)
The Somerset entry has an older brother Thomas b 1843 but the Wiltshire entry doesn't

For the Bath registered births:
Sarah Helps, Mother's maiden name: Thom, at Batheaston
Thomas Helps, Mother's maiden name: <None>, at Batheaston
From BathBMD.org.uk

If looking for Thomas in 1851, this might be a death for one or both of them, or unrelated, as no age at that time recorded:
Deaths March quarter 1847
Thomas Helps Chippenham 8 284
-
From GRO online ordering:
HELPS, THOMAS Maiden name not displayed.
GRO Reference: 1845 D Quarter in BATH Volume 11 Page 13
HELPS, THOMAS Maiden name HENDEN
GRO Reference: 1845 D Quarter in CHIPPENHAM Volume 08 Page 286
HELPS, SARAH Mother Maiden name THORN
GRO Reference: 1845 D Quarter in BATH Volume 11 Page 12
HELPS, SARAH Mother Maiden name CREASE
GRO Reference: 1845 D Quarter in CHIPPENHAM Volume 08 Page 283
There is another Sarah HELPS. HELPS, SARAH ANN - Order
GRO Reference: 1845 D Quarter in OF DEVIZES IN THE COUNTY OF WILTS Volume 08 Page 308

If looking for Thomas in 1851, this might be a death for one or both of them, or unrelated, as no age at that time recorded:
Deaths March quarter 1847
Thomas Helps Chippenham 8 284
The GRO index has his age as 1.
This would suggest he is probably the Thomas born Dec qtr 1845 in Chippenham.

The moral of all this being there's no such thing as "too much of a coincidence" in this game

From Wilts BMD. Surname Helps. Mother Crease:
1840 Elizabeth
1843 Edward
1845 Sarah
1848 Eliza
1851 John
No others for Henden but in 1842 Jane Helps, mother Hendy.
All births in Corsham sub district of Chippenham

Oops! Although I leave myself logged in I haven't actually been on here for a fair while as I haven't had the time to do anything family orientated lately. Thanks for your suggestions and comments everyone, I will endeavour to work my way through things as soon as possible :)
