Hello!
Any ideas please as to the location of this
Riverside Windmill
With thanks~001uk

Possibly the Fens, or near Boston,
Drainage dykes?
-
Lytham St. Anne's:

Hmm, not sure. Is it on a riverside?
-
Don't think so - the Lytham one is stumpier and no white top :-\

Berney Arms WIndmill in Norfolk?
http://www.norfolkmills.co.uk/WindmillsD/reedham-berney-arms-drainage.html (http://www.norfolkmills.co.uk/WindmillsD/reedham-berney-arms-drainage.html) and scroll down, there's a couple of good pics at the bottom of the page, clearly showing the drainage wheel alongside. The water is the River Yare

Berney Arms Windmill perhaps?
As you can see I agree - I was trying to copy a link but thought I would post and then find it!
-
Possibly the Fens, near Boston
Please back up your suggestion with a link to an image rather than making random guesses, otherwise you send people off on a wild goose chase while they try to find what you are referring to. ::)
Nicely found PC! (And a link to an image which is always welcome and provides proof that you are correct.) ;D
-
I am pleased that you found it in The Fens.

Jumped in a bit there without looking properly...I'm rubbish at this game ::) ;D ;D ;D
Good call PC .

I was torn between Lancashire and The Fens, but the terrain looked more like Norfolk than Lancashire didn't it?
-
Well done, PC.
I was going through the Broads windmills but I get easily side tracked and found some interesting bits and pieces ::)
-
I thought Reedham was on the Broads rather than the Fens, but am happy to be corrected.
I am amazed at the number of windmills that Norfolk used to have - many lost but some are still standing thankfully. :)

Scouse Boy, I'm in Australia, but I like to participate in these searches. It would be useful if could possibly be a little more specific, and as suggested a link would be helpful.
I wondered why you were suggesting it may be in the US, as that is the only Boston I have heard of. ;)

Boston is in Lincolnshire Jamjar. :) (Just past the big lump on the right as you head north. ;D)

Yes, thank you Ruskie. I've looked it up and also had a look at the one in the US.

So are the Fens in Norfolk, Boston, both or was it an error on your part?

I am pleased that you found it in The Fens.
Sorry, but Berney Arms Windmill is on the Norfolk Broads, absolutely not in The Fens. The two are a long distance apart.
The Broads are on the east side of Norfolk, and the Fens on the west side. There is a lot of Norfolk in between, and very nice it is too :)
There is a location map here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berney_Arms_Windmill

Well done PC.
I was thrilled that I found it too - usually hopeless but 'windmill by a river with a walking platform' found it. :)
-
Just pipped at the post Heywood but well found :)

PC was just a bit too quick. :) With all those windmills I'm amazed that you both managed to find it more or less at the same time and so early in the quest. :)

Hey SB that's a bit sneaky! You added "Drainage Dykes?" after the windmill had been identified and we were given the link mentioning this was a drainage windmill.
(I quoted your original post at my reply#7 and JenB quoted you in reply #19 ;D)

Very well done PrawnCocktail. Your speed and accuracy took the wind out of my sails. Great detection work and thanks to everyone who responded. It did generate some interest and FUN....back to the grind
