Title: WARD Wedding car TRAFALGAR Sq (Not LONDON!) SCARBOROUGH
Post by: 001uk on Monday 26 September 16 10:29 BST (UK)
Hello!

Any ideas please as to the location of this

Wedding (?) car "Trafalgar Square"

Decorated car possibly for a wedding. Parked on the road outside a terrace of brick built bay windowed houses with unusual stone columns at their entrance. On the side of the driver's door is "S.WARD".

On the photo's reverse is written:-
"Taken in Trafalgar Square"

With thanks~001uk

I see that the 1911 census lists 31 Trafalgar Squares which includes Scarborough as already mentioned.

I guess looking for a car hire firm called S. Ward would be too time consuming!

There is a George Ward listed as undertaker in Scarborough in 1890!

THE holder of one of the first taxi licences in Scarborough died this week 35 years ago. Stephen Ward gave up his coal business in 1915 and bought a Fiat taxi which took its place among horse cabs outside the railway station.

Thank you rosie99 for this most interesting piece of info.

I guess Mr Ward running a Taxi business in this town could have called his company
......SCARBOROUGH FARE....
