Hi - I am new to researching Scotland's records so hope that someone can help.
All I have is that Annie Macintosh was born in Dundee in 1899 and she married ? Crichton (possible John?). At some time they moved to Yorkshire and either before or after the move in about 1930 they had a son John S Crichton (possible middle name was Scott?). I'd be very grateful for any help. Thanks Carl

Hi the best place would be to search would be www.scotlandspeople.gov for a birth for Annie which will give you her parents names and their marriage date ..What year was the son born and where

Can't see a marriage for an Ann(ie) Macintosh to a Crichton but there is a marriage in 1925 in St Mary and St Peter, Dundee between an Annie MacIntosh Scott and a John McLeary Crichton. Might that be a possibility? Also there is a birth in 1931 in Dundee for a John Scott Crichton ( actually there are two births recorded in 1931 - one in St Clements, Dundee and one in Lochee) but these may refer to the same child). You would need to send away for the 1931 birth but the marriage is viewable online at Scotlandspeople.

Ann Mackintosh Crichton, John Mcleary Crichton, John Scott Crichton and Beryl Crichton or Robertson ( from the Doncaster marriage) all died in Scotland. None of the deaths are viewable online unfortunately.

Thanks Isobel and Rosie - all that looks really promising. I am away from home at the minute but will check it all out tomorrow. Yes, the son did get married in Doncaster and I have good detail on the maternal side of that marriage, it was just the Crichton side that I was stuck on.
I will get back to you tomorrow, but in the meantime I am very grateful. Carl

John (Scott) Crichton only died in January this year. There is a funeral notice for him at dct.myfamilyannouncements.co.uk. Mentions wife Beryl and two sons

I knew about the death this year of John Scott Crichton - I am doing this research for one of his sons who you mention, he is my daughter's partner.
