I'm looking for the marriage of Henry O'Donnell to Evelyn Thomas. Before or in 1921. There is a Trove article re: Henry falling of a bridge with a 4 month old babe in his arms in 1921.
I believe I have Henry buried at Rockhampton cemetery in 1979 aged 82, thus birth 1897. Haven't found reference to Evelyn.
There are Trove reference, but they say Mr and Mrs H O'Donnell.
The reason I think Evelyn is a Thomas is that Mr and Mrs H are mentioned in the death notice of Robert Thomas which is worded in a way to suggest she is his daughter.

ADDED: Henry's death isn't showing on BDM, but he is in the cemetery and his granddaughter recalls his death.

Is anyone able to find them on an electoral roll, please?
Jamjar
-
Is Henry his full name please?
Cando
-
As far as we know, Cando.
Could have Frederick as a middle name, though.
If only I could find a marriage cert, I'd purchase it. :'(

There is a 1979 death registration for a Henry Frederick, but it is for O'Donnell. :-\

Can you link the articles on TROVE please.
The only marriage I can see for a couple who lived in Rockhampton on the electoral rolls.
1914/B015553
O'CONNELL Henry Thomas
POSTLETHWAITE Martha
10 Sep 1914
Death - but it is in the Brisbane region.
1975/B64561
O'CONNELL Henry Thomas
Father Patrick Mother Bridget BRENNAN
Which party are you researching...Henry or Evelyn?
The Henry O* death you have appear to have identified at the Rockhampton cemetery is for Henry Frederick O'DONNELL died 1979 aged 82 buried Anglican.
Cheers

My apologies for my early morning stupidity! :o
It is most definitely O'Donnell.
I have removed all the O'Connell and substituted O'Donnell.

Have his death certificate and it is the correct one.
It says he was born in Rockhampton to Belmont and Dorothy - no maiden name.
No marriage or wife listed, which is interesting as it was his son who was informant.

Cando, this is the death notice for Robert Thomas for your interpretation:

Just trying to make sense of the electoral rolls for you now.

Thank you, Debra.
There is a marriage of Belmont and a Mary Ann Hunter - 1884, not Dorothy.

Henry Frederick O'DONNELL

Same street 1922-1937:
Arthur, Dorothea Johanna and Hannah Martha
1943/1949
Henry Frederick O'DONNELL
Zilzie Road, Emu Park, Labourer
Dorothea Johanna is still with him but Arthur and Hannah have moved to Nerimbera.
I don't think Henry was married to anyone. Perhaps the lady you are after is Evelyn Maude THOMAS who married George William SMITH in 1913. She was also living in Zilzie Road without George up to 1943.

This is excellent, thank you. ;D
Makes me wonder if she lived with Belmont at some stage.

Debra, there are 12 children credited to Henry and yes, I'm guessing that you have found the correct Evelyn Thomas. ;D
Jamjar
This wouldn't be possible, though: She was also living in Zilzie Road without George up to 1943.

Belmont's brother's death: 1944 C5106 Arthur Hugh O'Donnell John Alfred Flora McDonald Murchie

It is looking like Henry is not the father of all 12 children. George was mentioned as a brother at my Maud's funeral, last year. She is known as daughter of Henry.
There are two of the 12 not on his death certificate. I had assumed that the were deceased, but I believe they were omitted as they are the children of Evelyn an George.
The first child listed as Henry's was born in 1921.
Birth: 1913 C12170 George William Smith George William and Evelyn Maud Thomas
Death: 1962 B54055 George William Smith George William Evelyn Maud Thomas

Looks like George William SMITH probably deserted his wife.
His WW1 service file might be worth reading ;)
