Title: O'Brien Family
Post by: rjant on Monday 31 October 16 18:43 GMT (UK)
I am looking for my GGGrandfather, but have minimal information to work with. I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on where to start my search.  He was Patrick A. O'Brien born in Kildare County, I believe around 1830-31. I have found he died at age 63 yrs on Aug 30,1894 in Hay Huron, Ontario, Canada. I believe he married May Ann Eacrett, but do not know where or when. Thanks for any help you can give me.

A later date but there was a family with the name Eacret living in the Naas area early 1900s. Note only one t on surname.

Irish Church.

All the results for Eacret and the only result for Eacrett in the Marrage Licence bonds are in the Kikdare diocese http://census.nationalarchives.ie/search/dm/home.jsp
Sadly none to an O Brien, but at least it shows there is a good chance May Ann was from Kildare as well.

Patrick born 1837 to John Brien and Mary Ann Dunn Flemingtown, TwoMileHouse, Kildare in my tree.  I don’t know if he survived to adulthood but all his siblings emigrated with their mother to North America in the 1850s after the father died.  Patrick would have been old enough to plough his own furrow in the 1850s.  Maybe the date a bit out for your guy but close nonetheless, esp for the era.  John’s brothers James and William also sons Patrick but both likely born later again.  Have you done a DNA test?
