Just come across that UK Genealogy Online http://ukgo7.com/ is free until 31st December.
This an invaluable source of genealogical information for Carmarthenshire and other southern Wales counties, that from personal experience I can recommend, especially for early Parish records.

How do you register?? It just takes me from the registration page to the log in page and back again. ???

And me! But it does say free on the weekends, so maybe it only works then? ::)

Hello
I already subscribe (paid) to the site so haven't needed to follow the process through. All I can suggest is you use the contact email address given admin [-- at --] uk-genealogy-online.com and ask them for help and advice. Hopefully they can sort you out individually and also sort out whatever the problem on the web page is
Regards
Moderator Comment: e-mail edited, to avoid spamming and other abuses.
Please replace [-- at --] with @

Just done as suggested - hope they can sort it out as it looks very interesting.
Thanks.
;)
-
Thanks Roy, will do, several very interesting looking parishes there for me :)

Still not working today and no reply yet from the website. :(

Same here 😩

Just noticed there is a link to a Twitter. On there it gives a user name and password for free weekend access: Username - freedays : Password - 2016-1410
Maybe worth giving a go to see if it works
-
Tried that thanks but it delivers an error.....your account is inactive, please register and pay.......

Tried this myself and doesn't seem to work!
There is another email address you could try contacting for help sales[at]uk-genealogy-online.com
Hopefully they will fix this soon.
The only other alternative at the moment seems to be doing a months subscription for £3 http://www.ukgo7.com/register2016.html.
I have Replaced @ in email address with [at] in accordance with previous alteration to prevent spamming etc.

Thanks, given the parish records I'll probably sign up for a month and see what i can find. Thanks again for the link.

Hi
Just come across this
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~hughwallis/IGIBatchNumbers/CountyCarmarthen.htm
Where you can search in individual parish records
-
Seems to be working now.
Register and you should get an email confirming your login details and a link to the correct login page.
Login and main screen will appear but this time if you click on Carmarthenshire etc. You can access the records
When you login you may get a pop up advert if you haven't got some pop up blocker installed. If you do just close this window. I'll report this to them as I don't think it should be doing this
Would be interested to know if you can now register and access the records as well.
-
Thanks, will give it a go tonight (just got into work!).
I did get several pop up messages while i was trying to register, won an ipad and several other things!
-
I got as far as the details for a parish in Carms (without any e:mail confirmation) but when I then tried a parish in Pembs I got back into the register loop.

I can access Pembrokeshire records OK. You need to get an email confirmation, I think this confirms they have registered you for the free trial and provide you with the correct link to login using your details and complete the process.
Hopefully this will come through soon. If not, may be worth checking your email spam box. If not i would suggest maybe registering again under a different name in case you entered your email address incorrectly? The correct registration page should ask for your Name, Surname, Email address, Login (username) and password
Addendum:
Also just to say that there is an automatic time out (don't know how long), so if it senses a period of inactivity for a few minutes you will need to log back in
-
Thanks roycymru - I have now received a couple of e:mails from genuki (which are going to need studying!), hopefully your good news and perseverance will be rewarded.
-
Had my registration email but when I logged in I had a windows defender message so have shut down and won't try again. Thanks for trying to help with the info though.

Totally understand. I think this must be related to the pop ups that are appearing on this page for some reason. I have fed this back and hope they can sort it out.
As a paid user I use this address to login http://ukgo7.com/memberslogin1.html . This seems to be clean and have tried it with a dummy account I setup for the free access until 31 Dec, so maybe worth giving one last go using this login address?
Another option (if you use Firefox or Chrome) is to install the addon Adblock Plus (Firefox link: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-Gb/firefox/addon/adblock-plus/). This automatically blocks these annoying popups

I am a member of FindMyPast which - as you probably know - has lots of Welsh parish records. Would you know if this site has anything not on FindMyPast (Carms / Pembs in particular) as i will pay to join, at least for a month, if so.
Probably safer in the long run as my husband needs the desktop for work so i wouldn't want something to go wrong 😀
-
I'm in there OK - no pop-ups no warnings I used http://www.authpro.com/auth/UKGenealogy/
-
Hi
Aware of the welsh records on find my past but not aware of the specifics, so can't say for definite, but there is a huge amount of info on this site so I would think it highly likely it has info you don't already have.
Just tried the alternative web login I gave again on my iPad and annoyingly got a pop up! However, this is because I don't have an ad blocker installed on my tablet, installing pop up blockers on tablets doesn't seem to be as straightforward as on PCs.
Addendum
Where it says plus it should say a.d.b.l.o.c.k. (Without full stops) plus, but it doesn't seem to accept the word a.d.b.l.o.c.k.!
On a PC with Firefox or Chrome with plus I am confident you will be OK, as it will automatically stop the pop ups. I have Kaspersky internet security installed on my PC and it is very efficient at picking up any viruses etc. And it reports no issues.
I can totally understand your reticence. Annoyingly, Until UK genealogy online sort out their login pages the only way I can see of logging in without pop ups for a "free" iPad etc. Is to login on a PC using a Firefox or Chrome browsers which have the addon Plus installed.
Regards

Also just tried it logging in using this link on my iPad with no issues, so hopefully they have fixed it!
Hopefully it finally means users can register OK for the free trial and when they login gets no pop ups!! Didn't think highlighting this free offer would cause so many issues, but worth it if people can now access this site and explore the wealth of information there.

Just tried it too (but i'm on a desktop pc running w10). Logged in ok but when I tried to go to the Carmarthenshire page it was deemed unsafe by Norton.
Really sorry you are getting the hassle Roy but as I said the link is much appreciated.

Thanks. Can you remember what exact warning Norton reported, as I can then feed that to the, back to see if they can resolve that as well?
-
Sorry all i can remember was it said 'blocked' - will try again and see what happens 😄
-
Just tried again and got the attached ...
-
Not my day..... can't even get the picture the right way up. Have deleted and tried again but still the same :(
-
Thanks. Definitely not a genuine Microsoft alert. A pop up phishing window. A pop up blocker should stop this and let you go through to the site without issue, but these pop ups should not be happening. Just seems there's some malicious people out there who will even pick on a humble genealogy site just trying to help people in their research
-
Signed up and paid for monthly subs but still getting the pop-ups (don't get them on anything else 🙄). Been offered breast implants and online dating. Shame as the glimpses i've had - of the parish records - look good 😀
-
Fingers (and toes!) crossed but have tried logging in this afternoon in different ways without any suspicious pop ups, so hopefully now fixed.
-
Thanks for update, will have another go tonight but will probably give up if the popups continue.
-
I've given up - and still no reply from the site.
-
Me too, i even paid for a month's subscription but no better so have cancelled.
-
Oooh, as soon as I posted that one about giving up, I received an e-mail confirmation of my registration and can now look at everything!
I can only guess that they have fixed something. :D
-
thanks for this, registered easily and have already found some ancestors that had me stumped before :)

Really pleased you have found it useful. Their problems with registration and annoying pop ups seem resolved, so I would recommend anyone with carmarthenshire (or even Pembrokeshire or Glamorganshire) roots to give them a go. There is a huge amount of information on there, including pictures of pages from very early parish records. The Carmarthenshire images you will find hard to find elsewhere, especially as the record office is shut for the forseeable future.
-
Someone asked how this site compares to FindMyPast- I can see from a couple of parishes that FindMyPast records go further back. I've got results from Meidrim off FindMyPast for the end of the 1600s.

Thanks for this info. Not subscribed to Find My Past, will consider a subscription. Are these early records on FindMyPast indexed at all, or are just images?
-
My focus areas are quite specific so I can't speak about Carmarthenshire generally, but I've seen transcriptions and images for Meidrim although I can't recall if all transcriptions had images attached (it's been a while).
If you hurry, there's a world sub for a month for £1 offer going on at the moment- I think it ends tomorrow. There's a thread about it in the common room area.

Thanks for the heads up on the offer, but unfortunately already seems to have expired unless others gave a different discount code from 1WORLD?

Found this link http://www.findmypast.co.uk/british-military-records?sourceID=13&utm_source=affiliate&utm_content=LostCousins&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=%20fmp_uk&awc=2114_1479660081_9453fd97d626d23ed4d5ff7d79a51baa&dclid=CMOS2azjt9ACFWGh7QodyfYOPQ which still seems to work
As others have said don't forget to go into your personal detail an untick automatically renew my subscripition, otherwise after a month they will start charging you the full amount

UKGenealogy has scans back to 1665 as well for Meidrim. I think they have scans of all available Carms Parish Registers. Not all parishes are included on FindMyPast but they are on UKGen. As Roy says it is an invaluable source of records, including many chapel records found nowhere else.
I think the recent problems with pop ups, etc was general in Rootsweb lists. Dyfed lists were also affected and offline for weeks.

Unfortunately they appear to have exactly the same missing registers for Carew and Castlemartin as FindMyPast. The registers for Carew exist because I've viewed a transcript of them at the Society of Genealogists library (although I suppose they could be BTs) and Familysearch has extacted entries for Castlemartin. :-\

Although the page called http://www.ukgo7.com/register2016free.html is still there, the free offer for 2016 seems to have been taken down. Maybe the heading should have been " free until the beginning of December"?
What you get is a choice of £35 for the year 2017 or £3.50 what is confusing called "annual monthly subscription". I suppose it's easy enough to take the monthly then cancel after the 1st or 2nd month like Findmy Past, but unlike FindMyPast there are no detailed instructions.
-
See what you mean. They should have made it clearer. Looks like maybe it was a limited time offer and if you registered when the offer was in place you got free access until the end of December. Yearly membership is actually £25 not £35 as a one off payment and I think it is trying to say you can join monthly instead but will cost you £3.50 a month this way, though I think you can do just one month as a "taster" if you want. There is a contact us link for more info.
-
I signed up for the free until the end of december offer and was suddenly unable to get on the site. I just got referred to the subscription page. I can't contact them via the "contact" link to ask why this has happened and have used one of the addresses on the email they sent me when I signed up...but no reply.
Does anyone have the actual email address of the person I should be talking t about this? I also want to ask if I sign up for the £3.50 a month subscription is there a minimum amount of months I have to subscribe for.
wasn't happy about this as if had known i would suddenly be booted off I would have rushed a little more with my research >:(
-
Still no joy, the various pages on the site have changed almost every day, and just now there is a page that actually does invite you to register free - but then gives you the message "Registration is not allowed". So still no way to take up the free till end December promise.
-
It wasn't explained well by the site. Apparently those who subscribed for free should have got a welcoming email to say that the offer could cease at any time and apparently it did on 01 December! Therefore you can now only get paid access, a month at a time for £3.50 or a year for £25, at http://www.ukgo7.com/register2016free.html
