I recently found a marriage on the "FamilySearch.org" in the Parish of Shipton by Thorpe.
I am having difficulty;-
1. Finding the location of this Parish. Did it change its name? or was it incorporated into another Parish.
2. Finding where the original Parish Registers were deposited?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi Carol
Thanks for your suggestion although I am not totally convinced. I had looked at Shiptonthorpe previously but this parish was only formed in 1875 yet the Marriage Register of familysearch is from 1630's to the 1830's.
There is no mention of deposits for Shipton by Thorpe or Shiptonthorpe in the East Yorkshire Archive or Borthwick Archive Parish Deposits.
Some years ago you were able to find on the FamilySearch website were the original registers were on deposit.

The notes on Family Search for Shipton by Thorpe say this:
Shipton by Thorpe is also known as Shipton (near Weighton-Market), a chapelry in the parish of Weighton-Market.

Thanks to Carol & Jomot my problems solved.
I have also found that the Parish registers are on deposit at the Borthwick Archives. :)
