Hi, I'm trying to find the birth of my ancestor William Pringle,who married Elizabeth Scott in Stow in 1797, and had their three children in 1797,1799 & 1802, James,Walter and John, all born in Stow. Would I assume that Elizabeth came from Stow, but William may have come from another village or town. I'm not sure how I can take my tree back any further as there are too many possibilities., too many William Pringles! Anybody got any ideas? Thanks.

Are you sure of the name only marriage I can see is William Pringle to Margaret Scott

:D :D Think we all tend to get a bit excited have you found them in any census forms ?

Thanks Rosie, I have the children's births, but haven't seen the Census returns for them. It's Williams birth I need. I've looked on Family Search, but there are too many of the same name. I'm stuck.

Yes I don't see any thing either the problem is if they died before 1855 it is very hard to get records ..Had a look at OPR but nothing jumping out ...The only possible census I have seen 1841 address Stow Village Midlothian
John Pringle born about 1806 out by a few years labourer
Margaret Pringle born about 1766 age 75
Janet Corbet age 70 ( a vagrant )

Just had another look and there is a death for a Margaret Pringle 1/5/1845 age 79 years Parish Stow on the OPR on Scotlands People might be worth viewing ...Not sure if it will tell you where she is buried but you never know
