Title: West Alvington in the South Hams
Post by: Mowsehowse on Monday 14 November 16 10:03 GMT (UK)
Has anyone come across Samuel Hooper married to Catharine in 1746 and living in West Alvington, where they had 4 children baptised?

Hello
I've found the marriage to Catherine Pulciver 8.2.1746 .What are you looking for about him?
He was buried 26.10.1797 wife Catherine buried 20.2.1820 age 94

Thank you Ciderdrinker, [ ;) ] I did not have the burial dates.  That would make Catharine born 1726.

The actual baptism entries might give an idea of where abouts they lived and what Samuel did for a living perhaps.

My particular interest would be to connect Catharine to parents, as I have a suspicion that she might have been  an illeg daughter of the Katherine Pulsiver baptised 1697 in Kingsbridge.  If that is the case there just might be entries in the rates books or an apprentice doc hiding somewhere, so a probable birth year is a huge help.

The surname is unusual and there are so few around the South Hams.  I have tied them together in a tentative tree, but of course documentation is crucial.

Hi
Checked the baptisms but no extra info.
Seemingly son William inf buried 23.12.1752 and daughter Mary Hooper a child  buried 4.5.1759

But no details of residence or occupation on there.
