Before I go to FHUG for help please can anyone help here? When I try to open the file from my desktop I get the message:
Error while unpacking program, code LP5. Please report to author.
Any ideas please.

Check that your anti virus / security software is not preventing the program from running ....
-
I see you have had a response on FHUG advising to exclude the Family Historian folder from your anti-virus program.

Falkyrn and smudwhisk
Thank you. I admit that I also put my query on FHUG. The trouble is I now feel a bit of a fool because I don't know how to stop my anti-virus interfering. I am on Windows 10 and use Avast.

Right Click the Icon, then disable it.
When finish do same and Enable it..

Many thanks to everyone. Luckily my son visited this afternoon and was able to sort me out. It appears there was an update to Avast that I had not seen.

The suggestion on FHUG was to exclude the Family Historian folder from being scanned not to disable the software even temporarily. The latter isn't really a good idea if you are also searching the web at the same time as working on the file. :-X

I would go along with smudwhisk - rather than disbaling your anti virus everytime you want to access Family Historian add the files to the Whitelist (the exceptions file) within Avast

Thank you for the link to managing exceptions. I will print it out so that I know what to do next time.
