I am looking for the year of death for Jane Johnson (nee Gregg) between 1915 and 1932.
She was born in around Apr 1868 in Langdale Westmorland.
She was documented on a WWI record in 1915 and in 1932 her husband remarried.
She may have died in Garstang as she was living there in 1912 and it is where her last child was born. And she may have died in Preston as the family later lived there at Russell Street, 1920s-30s.

the closest Jane Gregg I can find was born in Ulverston district in 1868.
I can't find a marriage between Jane Gregg and a Johnson. What was her husband's first name please and when did they marry?

Yes, she was married to James Hewertson before she married Thomas Johnson in 1905. She would be under the name Johnson when she died, but it is such a common name I can't place an exact year of death.

Still looking for the death date of Jane Johnson nee Gregg. Have seen the 1921 census and she is alive and living with husband Thomas and their children in Lawson St Preston.
As far as I know Thomas Johnson remarried in 1932 to a Martha Winders (possibly a widow) as per 1939 census.

great grandad Thomas Johnson (b. 1865, Hesketh Bank). Apparently, according to my grandma, he was married at least five times, but I have only found two so far. I would really appreciate if anybody could find some information about his other wives. I know he was married when he was about 80 years old in Preston in the 1940s, but only lasted around 6 months and I don't know his wife's name.

The purchaser was a Jane Johnson :o
It's the grave where Jane's daughter Maggie Hewertson was buried in 1917! Jane must have subsequently bought it.

Thanks so much for the info on Mary Alice Sadler!! My great grandad had said his father was married many times, as many as 7 and this is the fourth one!

Yes, Martha you would think would be buried in Preston. But I am not sure when she died either. It's interesting that Thomas lived with Martha for a bit before they married. Or was he just living in the same house, and they became friendly?

Jane's first husband James died in 1904 and was buried at Kendal, 20 Aug 1904
Possibly at Parkside Cemetery (but I'm not 100% sure)

But I don't see Jane indexed as being buried there.
There is a Jane Hewartson death in Kendal in 1936, age 69.
I wondered if Jane and Thomas might have split up, and Jane could have reverted to using her previous married name. But I haven't got a burial for that lady, and although I haven't pinned down any one else, there are a few about (and variations in the spelling of that surname)
Possibly a crazy idea, especially as Thomas Johnson had remarried to Martha by then!

The burial for James seems to fit - he died 19 Aug 1904 at Memorial Hospital in Kendal

It looks to be her. Martha Meadowcroft is noted as of 97 Louisa St when she dies (according to an obit I can see an index for). Husband Frederick. Following them back she was born Martha Hicks in Wellington, Shrops c 1890

They're not together in 1939. Martha Meadowcraft is her niece, I think. Her father is a Samuel HIcks who is the right age to be Martha Hicks' brother
