Title: Lt.-Col. John Aylward Blood's career
Post by: Leo Kearon on Wednesday 07 December 16 12:03 GMT (UK)
I am looking for any information on  Lt.-Col. John Aylward Blood's military career. I know he married Frederica Gamble who killed herself in 1838 and on her grave he is only down as a major and he was in The 68th Regiment of Foot. However despite his high rank, I can't seem to find anything about his career.

Any help would be appreciated

Got his family info from the Peerage, I'm looking for any info on his military career, there is a Private John Blood of the 18th Hussars who was at Waterloo but I'm not sure it is him, he would have been 18 at the time.

The London Gazette will list promotions and some other military events.
https://www.thegazette.co.uk/

A search on "blood" between 1813 and 1847 came up with 336 references, mostly not relevant, but the first probable I found was 25 Nov 1813 issue 16815 p2368:
(list of wounded attached to report from Wellington in the Peninsuila Campaign)
Volunteers - 59th foot, 2nd batt. John A Blood.  slightly.

Good hunting.
