If he was a Wheelwright then his will is at Cambridgeshire archives:

I don"t have a paid membership in Ancestry or other family history websites, so I have looked at Family Search and on the web for any information.  I found an Ann Shadbolt, d. c. 1793, buried Walkern, Hertfordshire, England, father, James, mother Mary.  Also James Shadbolt, d. 1749 buried Whitechapel, Middlesex, England, a James Shadbolt, d. 1810, buried Great Staughton, Huntingdon, England and a James Shedbolt, d. 1831 buried Holy Sepulchre Church, Cambridge, Cambridge, England.  There is a Mary Guilderson reg. 1844 in the Edmonton, Middlesex, England area.  Would like to find a way to connect any of the above to William

Thanks Jomot,

I posted my original query for a friend who is looking for the information on William and his descendants.  I will ask him if William was a Wheelwright.

Rather than picking out a variety of Shadbolt names scattered around the country
and trying to link them together, you'd do better to start with the one that you know is yours and work back from him and see where it leads.
