Title: Francoise LORANT 1877 & Marie SAINTILAN

Hi there

I’m helping my friend with her French Ancestry, I have never done any research in France before so hoping someone can help us. Below is all the information she has on her Father’s side.

Father Francoise Mathurin born 17th April 1910 St Brieuc, Brittany (he was one of 8 children)

Grandfather Francois Louis Marie LORANT born 17th September 1877 Languex Brittany

GT grandfather Francois LORANT (date  and place of birth unknown) possibly Brittany
Gt grandmother Marie Louise SAINTILAN (date and place of birth unknown) possibly Brittany

She has been told that the SAINTILAN were at one stage called De SANITILAN but they sold their noble title. She also thinks that the SAINTILAN came from Irish stock, namely from the O’Brien

Can anyone give me advice as to whether there are records on line we can search, if so where do I look, she is going to Brittany in 2017, if she can’t find the information she needs on line she will do research while there, where are records kept and would she have access to them.

Any information would be of enormous help

Langueux is in the Côtes d'Armor department - the civil registration and parish registers are on line at

 sallevirtuelle.cotesdarmor.fr/EC/ecx/connexion.aspx

If available for the relevant period, start with the TD (tables décennales) which index the records for a ten-year period - very useful if you don't have a definite date.
