I'm still looking for a John Mullaney born c1832 in Roscommon. This link contains a better option than the one I had before. I was advised that it was likely that John would have named his first child after his Father. I read this register as fathers name John. It now transpires that John the son named his first son John in Stockport after he emigrated to England in the very early 1850's. Unfortunately John died aged 0 soon after birth, which is why I missed it first time around. I am hoping that someone here can help me read the whole entry. I am looking at the 27th June 1832.

Any advice, encouragement or help greatly appreciated with this one, especially the mothers name.

I'm struggling with the Mother's name. I think the male sponsor may be John Mullany.

2nd line down in snippet. Might mother's name begin with 'K', they look very florid in 2 lines below for a possible 'Keaney'...

The two central letters look like a double 'l' to me. If you compare the double 'l' in Mullany to what's in the mothers name, I can see a similarity there.

I honestly couldn't say. I am working backwards hoping to find something. If I was to get John Mullaney's English marriage cert would it give his father's name?

On the 1881 census John gives his place of birth as Roscommon, Ireland. His wife gives hers as Mayo, Ireland. That is the information I am currently working from.

Ive just read John mullaneys marriage certificate to ann duffey.its on an online tree.
Married at St Phillip and James in Edgeley Stockport. 21 oct 1852.
Johns father also John Labourer deceased.
Anns father Thomas Duffey also labourer.

Many thanks for that info. Doesn't move us much further forward sadly. As expected John's father is John. However, the information on Ann is new and helpful.
