Title: Looking - relatives of Walter Scott Rowan(1921-1968)WW2 Midlothian warhero.
Post by: Ad van Zantvoort on Sunday 08 January 17 14:21 GMT (UK)
Dear Members,  I would like to get your attention to my appeal and asking you for helping me out to track down the relatives of Walter Scott Rowan.  Before the war he was a Clerk and voluntered for the RAF as an Flight Sergeant Wireless operator. He went to 432 Sqdn RCAF and crashed with his aircraft 27 May 1944 in the neighbourhood of Budel,The Netherlands. He bale out on time but became a POW on the 6th June 1944 at Antwerp. He was born 14-3(or 8) 1921?  His Mother Mrs Rowan lived at 10 Stobhill Road, Gowkshill Newtongrange, Midlothian, Scotland.  I obtained the last inforamtion from a copy of his POW card.  As a projectgroup of the municipality of Budel we planned an memorial in memory of the crew of Halifax LK811 on the 28th May 2017 and we would like that the family know this and attending the unveiling of the memorial. I know the rules very well for contacting and/or publishing information about still living people but i hope there is some one out there who is able to help us to track down the relatives and send me the address by PM.

Many Thanks,
Adrian

I wonder if this would be worth trying?

Ev discovered his wife died in 1993 (not all that long ago) in North Berwick, East Lothian. I wonder if she had moved there to be with family?

There is a local newspaper - The East Lothian Courier - so Adrian perhaps you could contact them and they may be able to help trace any living relatives.

Try       www.eastlothiancourier.com

Good luck and please keep us updated

I remember the case of the abandoned baby in 1961 in Falkirk. Good find.

Adrian the dates seem to fit with ev's post about Walter and Margaret. If this is so then Andrew Rowan is a leading cancer specialist in London. It should be possible to email him. Just enter Andrew Rowan cancer research into your search engine and it will give you the link.

Good Luck

Dorrie

Hi Adrian...It would be a good idea to ask a moderator to add Walter Scott Rowan's name to your title post, that way if anyone googles his name they will be brought here. Use the "Report to Moderator" button to make your request.

Heading altered.

You can search for living relatives and send messages here:

Good luck with your search.

Hi All,

Further to that great find by "Unė kthimi i papenduar" ,I found that Andrew Rowan found a brother, on this link to another Daily Mirror follow up, http://www.rootschat.com/links/01jai/ (http://www.rootschat.com/links/01jai/)

What are the chances of finding his natural mother?
