Title: Ryan families, Graiguenamanagh in 1800s
Post by: brendan thomas on Sunday 08 January 17 18:59 GMT (UK)
Trying to get a start on a Frances aka Fanny Ryan of Kilkenny, reputedly Graiguenamanagh, who came to Tullamore probably about 1845 and married a butcher James Whithead aka James Gilson aka James Whitehead Gilson. I believe Fanny was a barber or a hairdresser and they had a large family.
Anyone compiled a Ryan family history starting in the early 1800s? James was still alive for the 1901 and 1911 census but not Fanny.

Thanks poster for those two that I have. I'm trying to trace back the wife of the head of the family in those who was Fanny Ryan. I heard she lived/they lived in Church Street and she died as a result of a fall down the stairs when she put her arm through a glass window or door. The Gilson / Whitehead was Teresa Gilson, my grandmother's, father

A Frances Gilson butchers wife died 1900

3 Children on that site https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/civil-search.jsp
Margaret, Mary and Eliza.
Margaret is the earliest in 1865
So there could be earlier children.
Need to move to parish records
