Title: Help with Latin please
Post by: Westy11 on Monday 09 January 17 02:27 GMT (UK)
The attached clipping appears to be the baptism of Christopher Hall 25 Nov 1695 but this is just a best guess.

Can anyone transcribe the full record please?

It's fairly straightforward, Westy, so even I can manage the translation.

Christopherus filius Christopheri Hall de [Whenby?] Baptiz: fuit secundo die Septembris

Christopher son of Christopher Hall of Whenby was baptized on the second day of September

I'm sure Bookbox will correct it later if I have something wrong.

Thanks horselydown86,

For confirmation was his baptism date 2 Sept or 25 Sept?

Hi Westy,

It says "secundo die", the 2 Sep. If it had been the 25th, it would have been "vicessimo quinto die".
