Title: Any idea where this Burial might have been?
Post by: Romilly on Sunday 15 January 17 11:47 GMT (UK)
I've found this Death Entry for Evan Rees, (1811 - 1876).

On the 1871 Census he was living in Crown Street, Morriston, Swansea.

Does anyone on here have any idea where the Burial might have been?

On the Burial Register, (for 1876) the Vicar is D.Evans, and the Curate is J.D.Allan, - I don't know if that may help to place the Church?

Cheers, Romilly.

it's from the parish records of the parish church in Llangyfelach, St David & St Cyfelach, so in the churchyard there. It has been transcribed for FreeReg as well.

In 1881 David Evans is on the census age 70 Vicar of Llangyfelach, born Trelech, Carms. RG11/5353 folio 122 pg 96. He shows up as the vicar in 1871 & 1861.

Many Thanks for that Osprey. Now I know...

I visited that Church when I visited Swansea, (about 10yrs ago now). There were some Rees Gravestones, I remember, but I doubt that any of my ancestors could have afforded them(!)

Hi Romilly.  I might well have a Rees connection with Rees in the Morriston/ Llangyfelach area.
My ggg grandfather was William Rees (C1800).  I have some evidence to suggest that he might be connected to the Llamgyfelach area.  Any connections?

Hi Keith,

I'm stuck with finding a Baptism for my G/G/Grandfather Evan Rees, Born Approx 1810 or so, and so it's difficult to know. Do you have the names of your William Rees' Parents?

Romilly.

Hi Romily.  Sorry for the delay in replying.  Sorry no idea of my ggg grandfathers parents.  I know he was coal miner and I calculate that he was born C1800.  I have a William Rees, with a son Thomas Rees (my gg grandfather) in Llagatwg area of the Neath Valley on the 1851 Census.  Says he was born in llangyfelach.  regards.

Lots of Rees's in Wales! :-)

Mine all seem to have been in and around Swansea and Morriston, and to have worked in the Copper and Tin Industries.

Best of luck with your research, - Post on here if you get stuck, and someone might be able to help.

Regards, Romilly.
