Hi all,
I'm looking to find a baptism/birth record for a JAMES ROATH. All I know of him is that he was born in Hollywell, Flintshire in around 1811. He appears in the Welsh 1841 census with his wife JANE and their children living in the same area. I'd always believed that he died in 1847 but this could be wrong.
Can anyone help me trace his parents?

1841 census states N (not born in County) for James

Ah that's interesting. Not sure how I missed that! Ancestry lists the place of birth as Hollywell. Having looked at the actual record it does indeed say born out of county.

Yes, I believe this to be the right marriage. Sadly this doesn't help me to trace James' parents without buying the marriage certificate.

1830 is too early for a marriage certificate, you may need a PR look up for other information eg witnesses
It looks as though the death you have could be right
ROATH, JAMES age 39

There is a baptism for a James Roath in Birmingham on 9 May 1808, parents James & Ann. This date would tie in with a death age of 39 in 1847.

Ah a good find! Thank you.

If you subscribe to Ancestry, there is an image of the actual parish register (St. Martin, Birmingham) which also gives his birth date of 20 Feb 1808 (could be 1807 as it says "last", not sure if this means last year).
There is a marriage record for a James Roathe and Ann Yates on 2 June 1805 in Tanworth in Arden - you can see a free image of this on FamilySearch here https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XXR9-8BM (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XXR9-8BM). Worth looking into! :)
