I am trying to find the location of Apsley Place East Retford and cannot find a map with it on. all I know is that it was thee in 1864 when John Hannam and Frances Mary lived there. any help would be appreciated.

In haste !!!!!!!! Should the place be Aspley. That name occurs in Nottingham area.

Morris Lyons, 1811, was living there in 1841.
It appears to be between Carol (?) Gate and Wharf.
Added: Could be Canal Gate, and near New Street.

Carol Gate shows here:

I found Apsley Place, East Retford on the 1871 census, only four households, enumerated between Dominie Cross Road which exists today and South Road, (there's a South Street nearby so maybe that's had a slight name change).

P.s. Dominie Cross Road is near Carolgate and Wharf too

Following on from the earlier finds, it should be somewhere around here:

That map is not very detailed but you may be able to find another. I did have a look but my ipad is not co-operating at the moment. Old-maps.co.uk appear to have a couple which look fairly detailed, but they are not loading for me. :-\
If there were only a few households living there it may be so small as to not be marked on any map.
