Good Morning. I have a George Lambert b 1728 and baptized the same year in Pucklechurch, Gloucestershire. Unfortunately, the church record book (via Ancestry records) for Baptisms does not record the parents.
George married Hannah Withers but again the parents names are not recorded in the online records.
Any suggestions as to how I might discover who George's parents were?
many thanks

Was George's baptism at Pucklechurch the only LAMBERT (or variations of) around that time etc. ?Have you checked the burials etc.
Look for family names...
Assume this is the couple's marriage on Family Search - also on Scribes Alcove : http://www.scribes-alcove.co.uk
George LAMBERT + Hannah WITHER - marriage at Thornbury: 25 February 1754
and baptisms

Sarah: 2 October 1757 (parents : George & Hannah)
Thornbury
George : born 26 October 1764, christened 15 March 1765 (according to Scribes Alcove was the 5th child)

he marks
The mark of Edward WEEKS the younger of Thornbury
The groom and Edward WEEKS are bound to the sum of £100. To marry at Thornbury

As Henry HAMMETT was a Mariner - links to the River Severn etc. as Thornbury was only about 2 miles away - Thornbury roots says a lot of men were sailors.

Thankyou. Yes this is Georges family and Mr Hammett did wed Mary!
I have done the usual genealogy sites. Hoping to find another source for discovering George 1738s parents names.
Thanks

? this is just an idea
As alias names were very common (in my family the alias is totally different from each other).
? Could LAMB be an Alias for LAMBERT

There is on the National Archives (but in 1880) - Admiralty, Navy, Royal Marines, and Coastguard
John LAMB alias John LAMBERT, born Dublin Ireland
----
As George names a son John..... and time scale is close
On the Forest of Dean Marriage Allegations etc.

Thanks for your reply.
There are frequently transcriber errors but lambert appears as lamb our or lumbert or Lambard etc.
They are not from Bristol itself.
Many thanks.
Have a lovely day.
