Good morning
Trying to locate the burial location (or cremation record) for Hannah Schofield, nee Greenhough, died Dewsbury Registration District in June 1931 aged 29. Husband was James. One son, Harry.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
TIA and many thanks.

Firstly I think you will need to obtain her death certificate to pinpoint where she had been living, and the actual date of death. There are a number of towns included in the Dewsbury Registration District.
-
Not sure if this will help - no certificate to look at but there's a public tree on Anc*y

Hi Bumble Bee
I will find out if the Death Cert is available for more info.
Thank you

Ladyhawk
Thank you for the information. I will pass this on and if the Death Cert if available will post the last address to hopefully narrow it down :-)

Hi Bumblebee
The Death Certificate shows she died at 58 Healds Road, UD, (Dewsbury). I've googled the address and it seems as if it was the site of a workhouse. She died from status epileptias and epilepsy :-( I presume that is why she was in the "workhouse" although there was a hospital, if not on the same site, very close by.
The home address is given in Morley.
Any thoughts?

I would hazard a guess, and it is a guess, that Bruntcliffe Lane Cemetery, Morley would be favourite. Yorkshire Indexers are in the process of transcribing the burial registers. I believe that the burial records are at Wakefield - West Yorkshire History Centre - http://www.wyjs.org.uk/archives/contact-us/
Hope this helps, rather than hinders, your search. :)

Her husband's address was given as 18 Westfield Road, Morley and his death
58 Healds Road (Staincliffe Hospital) 1936 and he's buried at Bately Cemetery -
here's his entry on Find A Grave
https://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=schofield&GSiman=1&GScid=2311912&GRid=142321364&
Nothing came up on a search for his wife Hannah

Thank you Ladyhawk ;D

Assuming that the James Schofield/Hannah Greenough marriage is the correct one, and I don't doubt it, then James had been married previously and his father's name was Charles.
Very strange that the Find A Grave entry gives James' first wife as Jane Ackroyd. I can't find any marriage between those two names BUT I can find a Schofield/Akeroyd marriage in Batley -
30 March 1891 - James Schofield, 24, Miner. Father - Charles, Cutter and Zilpha Akeroyd, 20, Weaver. Father - Joseph.
Zilpha Schofield dies March quarter 1909, aged 35 - Barnsley Registration District. Age is slightly out, I know :-\
-
Thank you BumbleBee. The entry was done by James's granddaughter from the second marriage to Hannah so I would think it is correct, but Zilpah may have been known as Jane I suppose?
I'm just looking at whether Hannah could have been buried with her family, the Greenhough's.

Yes, I did see that marriage entry (James and Hannah).
I've just spotted something - related to the grave at Batley:
Charles Schofield is buried 20 March 1915, aged 18 months. Death registration March quarter 1915, Dewsbury, page 910 aged 1 (GRO new facility gives age as 18, same page number, which I believe can be interpreted as 18 months). Birth registration for Charles Schofield, Dewsbury Registration District, December quarter 1913 - mother's maiden name is Ackroyd.
So my James Schofield/Zilpha Akeroyd marriage is possibly a red-herring, as Zilpha died in 1909 :-[

I did wonder about that entry for Charles mmn AKEROYD edit should be ACKROYD
as she'd died 1909
J & Z's children 1901 census named Jane E & Cecil and these are their birth entries
Jane Eliza SCHOFIELD mmn AKEROYD
1897 S Quarter in DEWSBURY Volume 09B Page 616
Cecil SCHOFIELD mmn AKEROYD

Mmm.....I can't see any other Schofield/Akeroyd marriages and
James Schofield's father on both those marriage entries is named as Charles Schofield occ miner ??? and James is a widow when he marries Hannah :-\
-
Just thought I check something out on GRO indexes
Do you think they have the correct age for death of Charles Schofield in 1915?
there's this entry is he 18 months or 18 years :-\
Charles SCHOFIELD 18
1915 M Quarter in DEWSBURY Volume 09B Page 910
ADDED
just checked FreeBMD it gives his age as 1
-
Exactly ;) And then we've got the Akeroyd vs Ackroyd question.
Zilpha marries as Akeroyd and Jane Eliza and Cecil birth registrations also give the surname as Akeroyd.
Charles' birth registration in 1915 states Ackroyd!!

just edited mine as entered wrong spelling ::)
There is a marriage 1909 N Brierley
Names on same page
Margaret ACKROYD/Joseph SCHOFIELD :-\
the only other I can see is 1934 Leeds North
-
I've just been checking, via GRO facility, all births registered Dewsbury and mother's maiden name Akeroyd:
1893 - May
1895 - Eliza Jane
1897 - Jane Eliza
1900 - Norman
1902 - Hilda
-
Have you looked at 1911 Census entry for James Schofield? I can't put up the details but there are 2 names possibly connected to the grave = James Schofield and Rachel Ackroyd plus Jane Schofield!!!
But this might be, yet again, another wrong alley!! If so, then I'm going to disappear :o

Ladyhawk and BumbleB
Thank you for all the additional info on James Schofield and his first wife and family. Clearly Hannah is not buried with them so now I'm wondering if she could be buried with her family, the Greenhough's or Greenough's?
Her father was John William born circa 1870 and mother was Ann Eliza?
-
Possible deaths of her parents but can't see any burial info. on Find A Grave
John W GREENOUGH Age 65
1926 Dewsbury Yorkshire Volume 9B Page 484
Annie E GREENOUGH Age 64
1932 Dewsbury Yorkshire Volume 9B Page 646
-
;D Thank you Ladyhawk. As both her parents died in the Dewsbury area and one before and one after it will be worth investigating where they are I think.
