I have got the copy of the parish register its the census for this guy which is confusing he's on the 1851 census with his mother Elizabeth in Liverpool aged 5.
The 1861 census could be him but can't fathom out who this Aunt would be in Blackburn or who his Uncle would have been!
Then couldn't find anything for 1871 although he married at St John's Manchester in 1872 ???

Age - 31

So it would appear that the above 1871 can be discounted.
Quite a mystery this one ???

Think Elizabeth died June quarter 1876 age 51 West Derby but think she would have been 55.
I didn't know Robert died in the workhouse but he did die aged 28 so will enter that
The farmer Robert Forshaw I thought wasn't my Robert as he was born in Burscough not Liverpool this was my logic.
The 1881 census when my John Forshaw was living in Hulme Manchester there are two John Forshaw's of similar age one is the son of the farmer he is a widower and his son in law John Forshaw who is married. RG11 Piece/Folio 3756/7
My John Forshaw seems to have disappeared from 1851 - 1871 then gets married in Manchester.
???
Thank you all again for your invaluable help still don't know were I go from here as he was a marble polisher don't know whether they do an apprenticeship for that I thought it was me who just couldn't find the census but you kind people have looked as well.

heatherjulie that's a very good question, if he didn't die you'd have expected him to
be on the census with his mother Elizabeth & brother John :-\
1871 census I'm afraid I'm having to concede ??? I cannot find the elusive
John FORSHAW born 1846 Liverpool occ Marble Polisher Mason.
Also couldn't locate the address 4 Scholes Entry as per his m/c 1872
This looks to be his wife Mary Potter on 1871c - I did a quick look either side of this just in case he was living close by but didn't spot him ???

Mary FORSHAW age 61 (1846)
If you are looking for John on latest census his surname is transcribed as
ForshaM on An*y, still living in Salford
and this could be his death entry
Mar 1916 Salford vol 8d page 25
John FORSHAW age 70 (1846)
Another avenue to try is the trade directories for 1870,71, 72 etc....
I found 1876 entry on page 235 for
John FORSHAW marble polisher address 25 Phoenix Street Hulme

Thank you all I don't know what I would do without this site. John Forshaw 1846 with father Robert born in Liverpool could only find the one and that was Robert the Blacksmith couldn't find any others. I was OK with that until the marriage said he was a farmer? The 1871 census for Mary Potter is great.
This is the marriage I thought this was the correct one as John Forshaw's parents as John named his daughter Elizabeth Evans Forshaw. I have also found an Elizabeth Evans father John baptised St Peter’s Liverpool 10.09.1821 so when they got married she was still a minor until September 1841
Here again I have conflicting evidence as John Evans shoemaker on her baptism he's a comb maker and on her brother Edward's he's a labourer?
Thanks again for all your help

John named his daughter Elizabeth Evans Forshaw.
Did his daughter Elizabeth Evans Forshaw marry Charles Daniels 1896 Salford?
Do you have this marriage certificate confirming her father's details?
-
Hello
Yes Elizabeth Evans Forshaw did marry Charles Daniels but I don't have her marriage certificate. She was my granddad's sister. I haven't got her marriage certificate but my mum told me about her as she became her dad's housekeeper after 1911. I also have all the details of my grandfather John Forshaw's other brothers and sisters.
Joseph Forshaw who was the youngest is the one who is living with their father John Forshaw before he emigrated to Canada on the 1911 census. This is my grandfathers marriage from Lan OPC

All addresses are in the same vicinity. Could it be that James Forshaw made the hoops (blacksmith) for the barrel's so occupation could also be a cooper?
There was a James Forshaw that died and is buried at St John's Haymarket blacksmith aged 46 at Lower Myrtle Street Liverpool in 1835 So birth date approx 1789 but if this is mine I haven't found a marriage to an Elizabeth Could this be Robert's brother James and not his father?
I did find one that fit the bill for this James with Richard and Mary as parents (this is the one that seems to be popular on ancestry) but on going through all the records found that they actually named two sons James and both died in infancy.
However James Forshaw marriage to Elisabeth is also evading me?
There was a James Forshaw married and Elizabeth Mackerath 16.03.1789 at St Anne's Church Liverpool. (according to the LDS) but not on the Lan opc. Lanc OPC have just come back to me said it had been missed off and sent me the transcript 1789 March 16 James Forshaw of Liverpool, Cooper married Elizabeth Mackereth of Liverpool Spinster by Banns. Minister was Rd. Formby and witnesses William Tatlock and Sarah Bolton.
One of the births recorded James had the name Tobias Forshaw but I can't find a marriage only the one for just James to Elizabeth.
If I don't get a break on this soon I will be bald any of you lovely people help me untangle the Forshaw's.
Eileen ??? ??? ??? ??? ???

Hello
Just playing catch up.
On the James Forshaw the one that everyman and his dog has on Ancestry baptised at St John's Haymarket Liverpool son of Richard and Mary Coppull (widow) nee Lyon's 1789 died in 1791 and is buried at St Peter's Liverpool. The couple had 9 children the last another James who was born and died 1795
I have found an illegitimate James Forshaw 1790 couldn't find an infantile death. Mother Elin Forshaw
Baptism: 24 Oct 1790 St Mary, Walton on the Hill, Lancs.
James Forshaw - illegitimate son of Ellin Forshaw
Born: 6 Oct
Register: Baptisms 1767 - 1812, Page 36, Entry 10
Source: LDS film 1647559
I have the transcript from the register.
How would an illegitimate son get an apprenticeship as a blacksmith? Could Ellin someway be related to Richard Forshaw the Blacksmith so many unanswereed questions
-
Hello All
Got another query on James Forshaw with regards to his birthdate on the Parish Register of Walton on the Hill which recorded 06.10.1790 and illegitimate son of Ellin Forshaw.
I have found a burial at St Johns Old Haymarket of an Ellin Forshaw on the 03.10.1790 workhouse? Seems a bit coincidental. Could his date of birth been guessed. There were quite a lot of illegitimate births at Walton on the Hill but burials for the workhouse seem to be at St Johns
Anyone can you help or give me your opinions
Eileen
