A headstone in the graveyard at Christ Church Delgany reads:
In Loving Memory | of | WILLIAM MOORE MORGAN | who died 27th December 1914 | aged 39 years | son of the late | Rev. Canon MOORE MORGAN, LL.D., | of Armagh
and probate records show he lived at 1 Beach View Terrace Greystones Co. Wicklow.
Oral family history has it that he was murdered in Wicklow and we are trying to ascertain the truth/circumstances.
I am hoping someone might be able to shed light on the death of William (Billy) Moore Morgan, great-grandson of the Rev. Moore Moore of Dunlavin.
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated by his family in Australia.

Thanks for your great work, Sinann, this is very informative.
I am stunned to see that there was a coroner's deliberation within a day of the event. Was this usual? Is there any way of seeing a copy of the coroner's deliberation?
All the best.

An inquest was usually convened very soon after a death. The best place to find details in in newspapers.
-
Thanks, I will try the newspapers.
Your continued help is much appreciated.

I found a newspaper article on the inquest, on findmypast.ie, I am not sure if this link will take you to it, in a readable form, if not perhaps I could email it to you.

Thanks, Margaret.
Just tried to sent a PM. Not sure it went.
If it didn't, will try again.
Cheers.

I have find myself with a more general question which is relevant to Billy Morgan, and then a specific one.
He is buried in the cemetery at Christ Church Delgany, i.e. buried in consecrated ground. Was that allowable in 1914 Ireland for people who were judged to have died from suicide?
I have so far been unable to find a date for his burial.
Many thanks.
