Jesse THORP married Alice WADE, both widowed, possibly 1940 Spen Valley District, Yorkshire. Jesse was a pavior & flagger, possibly born abt 1882 as the son of John Andrew THORP & his first wife Mary Jane PARR (John Andrew's second wife being Elizabeth SAVILLE), who I believe lived in Batley, Yorshire much of his life, but also lived in Blackpool. I think he might have previously marred Mary BURNLEY.
There are at least 2 candidates for Alice:
1. Alice HORSFIELD born in Brighouse, Yorks about 1880, who first married Matthew WADE, also born about 1880 in Knottingley, Yorkshire.
2. Alice ? (WADE as a widow after previous marriage) who lived in Blackpool near Jesse if I have the correct Jesse, and who was born about 1892.
Any help with these connections would be wonderful thanks.

A copy of the 1940 marriage cert will show Alice's fathers name which will give you her birth surname

Also try finding Jesse on the 1939 register,it gives dates of births,and it's only a few months before they married. You'll also find that Alice's surname will have been updated to read both her maiden name and her newly married one.The register was updated with marriages info until 1991.

There are possible deaths for them both in Dewsbury reg district:
Alice Thorp of 170 Town Green, Earlsheaton, Dewsbury died aged 72 on 15 May 1965.
Jesse Thorp died aged 84, Dec qtr 1966 Dewsbury.
One of Alice's executors was Fred Johnson, a miner - possibly a relative?

Her father: Fred Johnson, miner.
Her abode: 19 King St, Batley Carr.

Alice Johnson born 9 July 1892 was baptised 31 July 1892 at Dewsbury.
Parents: Fred (a miner) and Sarah Ellen, of King St, Batley Carr.
As has been suggested earlier in the thread, the 1939 Register would give you the opportunity to find the birthdate of the Alice Wade you describe in the opening post as living in Blackpool near Jesse Thorp.

I think you'll find that's 1892 ;D
