Title: Tebb(e)y, Gayhurst 1791
Post by: decor on Tuesday 07 February 17 17:59 GMT (UK)
According to Familysearch,

William Tebbey married Mary Tompkins on 22 September 1791 at Gayhurst.

If anyone has access, I'd be interested to know if the original record contains any extra information, e.g. Marital status, abode, etc.

William and Mary seem to have baptised three children in Gayhurst and several others in nearby Hanslope. I wonder if they buried any in Gayhurst too?

Thanks for your help

BucksFHS could do a marriage search for you.... the cost is minimal.  They also have for sale, Gayhurst Parish register transcripts on CD, for the cost of 5 searches, + postage.  From their online shop.

Parish Registers of Gayhurst St Peter covering these events.

Banns - 1826 - 1901
Baptisms -1575 - 1899
Burials - 1575 - 1900
Marriages - 1576 - 1901.

Logic dictates, you will get more from this CD, than 5 searches.

Whatever information appears in the actual registers, and bishops transcripts, is shown in the transcripts CD.

Steve. :)

Have a look at Stoke Goldington as well.
There are Tebb(e)ys there in 1851.
Stoke and Gayhurst are very near each other.

Yeah, I'm interested to know where William Tebbey was from, and wondered if by miracle it was stated on his marriage record.
Three Tebbeys, William, Susannah and Anne, turn up in the Hanslope/Stoke Goldington/Gayhurst area in the 1790s. I suspect they were siblings and from Blisworth in neighbouring Northamptonshire.
It's just proving it that's tricky  ;D
Susannah married Edward Aldridge, and I'm descended from their son Thomas. ;D

Just to throw some Marriage Bonds in the mix, there are these to ponder.  They may, or may not be linked to your Tebby's.  Keep or discard at your leisure. :)

Thomas TEBBET, widower of Castlethorpe, to Catherine Smith of Gayhurst.  Parish of Marriage - Gayhurst, Bond granted - 15th Oct 1780.
Benjamin Tebby, Dealer in Hogs, of Quainton, to Sarah Holton of Quainton.  Bond granted - 18th April 1788.
James Tebby of Gayhurst, to Matilda Moore of Moulsoe.  Bond granted - 1830 @ Moulsoe.
John Tebby of Preston Bissett. to Mary Abraham of Pimlico in Tusmore, Oxon. Bond granted @ Preston Bissett. 15th Oct 1832.

There are 3 TIBBY in the bonds list, but all from Wendover, Bucks. 1779, 1788 & 1827.

William Tebby and Mary Tompkins were my 5x Great Grandparents.

I have attached a pdf outline of William Tebby's ancestors and one for Mary Tompkins. No guarantees that they are correct of course, particularly with Mary as there were at least three Mary Tompkins to choose from.

I should have also said that my 4x Great Grandparents William Tebbet and Rebecca Tebby (daughter of William Tebby and Mary Tompkins) were married in Gayhurst on 25 Dec 1816.
