Hi
Elizabeth m. William Goodwin 1764 Madeley, Shropshire. Elizabeth was a widow. Witnesses at the wedding were, Will/Will'm Dicken and Mary Beard.
I am fairly sure I have the correct William b. c1740, parents = Wiliam & Mary. William was a waterman.
It is possible to make a case for Elizabeth being a 'Beard' but just can't show it..
Any help/info re. Elizabeth's birth/parentage would be appreciated.
Many thanks

Sorry Geoff but I can't find an Elizabeth Beard marrying someone with the surname Owen/Owens anywhere in Shropshire.

At the marriage of James Owen to Elisabeth Beard, his abode was Benthall.
A James Owen was buried in Benthall on 20 Nov 1763, so fits with the Elisabeth being his widow.

The marriage to James Owen and his death certainly fits. However if William Goodwin was born 1740 would he, as a 24 year old be marrying a woman who first married when he was 4. She must be quite a bit older than him.

James Owen and Elizabeth (presuming I have the right couple and there wasn't more than one couple called James and Elizabeth Owen) had the following childrem baptised in Madeley
Thomas 1745
Eustace 1747
Edward 1754
James 1756
John 1759
Busk 1761
Calling a son Eustace implies that the baptism in my previous post is correct so Elizabeth was 13 years older than William Goodwin,

Yeah, that Eustace connection looks interesting, as far as I am aware not too common either...
